Hi,

I thought I'd post up a few pictures of my new(er) daily. I had a 2.0 8v, but when this was advertised on the forum I couldn't say no! It's a 1.8 16v GTi. It's had a few bits done to it, and to be honest, I don't really plan on doing much more.

Here's what it came with:

1.8 16v engine.
Welded (but removable) front and rear upper strut braces.
Bilstein PSS9 coilovers.
15mm Eibach rear spacers.
Stealth shelf.

Here's how I got it (bad picture, but you get a rough idea)

The purple Ibiza was sold a few days later, with the wheels the new 16v came with.

Here's how it's currently sitting after fitting the Cupra rims:

The spacers aren't fitted as I'm waiting for some longer bolts. It came with a very sketchy stud kit on it that I removed.

And a few future plans:

I might look out for a new steeing wheel as the leather has worn through on the current one. I also managed to bust some of the dash trims, as they had been glued in and weren't sitting correctly. I have found replacements and will hopefully get it sorted over Christmas. Only other plans are to remove all of the stickers from the back, and possibly de-wiper the rear as it doesn't work anyway.

Cheers

Small update.

I've removed the stickers from the back of the car and the rear window (still got a bit of sticky glue to remove).

I managed to pick up a new set of heater controls (other ones had been glued together), so I got them fitted today. I've also removed the rear wiper, as it didn't work anyway. My longer wheel bolts turned up between Christmas and new year, so I refitted the rear spacers back on. As the wheels were off, I also trial fitted the Super T's on to see how they look. They've got the wrong size tyres on them at the moment, but here's a few pictures with the spacers fitted (excuse the lack of bung in the wiper hole, it's now fitted!):

O/S spacer on, N/S not:

And one back on the Cupra rims with the spacers:

I think the coilovers need some adjustment to get the car sitting right.

At some point, it's had an audio install, and a lot of wiring had been left in it. I've taken that out today, and also removed the second aerial off the roof.

Hopefully tomorrow, I'll get cracking with re-fitting the interior I've stripped today, along with fitting in my new red Cupra Sport seat belts :)

love it, what a bloody bargain!!!!
once lowered, and sitting right, will look awesome :D

you got the mid-facelift too, so awesome rear bumper :D

mk3 steering wheel is awesome tbh, wish I had put one on mine :(

Cheers, Suj. It was a bargain!

I have a few different ideas for the wheels at the moment. I'll either keep the Mk3 5 spokes and get them painted white, or keep the Super T's and get them painted anthracite, as both sets are in desperate need of a refurb. I'm going to try the wheels from my silver Ibiza on it to see what they look like before I decide what option to go for. Sadly, I can't lower it much more, otherwise I won't be able to get up the drive.

I love both the bumpers on this, but both are in desperate need of a respray :(

I'm on the look out for a Mk3 steering wheel, but no luck so far.

I really like how the super t's look tbh, not a real fan of the mk3 starfishes, never have been
I wouldn't refurb the t's white though, I think the colour atm or in anthracite would look awesome :D

oh I understand, it is your daily after all :p

will keep an eye out for you, alot breaking on ebay, tbh my bora one feels the same, could be the same...different badge :)

When I bolted the Super T's on, I didn't really like how they looked, but the more I look at the photo's, the more I like them. I do think they would look better anthracite though, I'd never paint them white, they'd get far too dirty!

It will go a little lower, definately on the front anyway.

I've messaged a few sellers on eBay, but they are asking silly money for them :(

Looking good mate. And from what I have heard was an absolute bargain!!

I love how the Super T's look on the Mk2. Dont think I will have another set of wheels for it now, think the T's will just be refurbed in a different colour.

Like the look of that mid-facelift bumper

martin, did you manage to get hold of all the dash board parts you were after? love those super T`s.

I got them from a guy on here, but because of the weather/Christmas/postage delays, I'm still waiting for them to arrive. I think I'll be sticking with the Super T's.

It was a bargain indeed!

I will try the other set I have on it and see how they look, but I'm pretty sure they'll be painted anthracite.

I think the bumper would need a bit of work to fit on a facelift. It's mean changing the wings on the front. Not sure about the rear though.

Looks good, loving that rear bumper.

Dont spose you want to sell the original gearknob do you? Mines so worn out the leather has split.

Looking good Martin. That also explains why you were after those Mk2 dash parts - thought you were converting the 1.8T back again!

I love SuperTs - had a set of silver 16s on my old Ibiza before I tracked it and the S3 has a set of black 18s on it.

Cheers. I will PM you about the gear knob.

Thanks, Jason. I should of just left the dash in this, but it wasn't sitting right and started to annoy me! I have been chopping up the dash on the silver one too, but that's staying 1.8T!

I do love Super T's. I remember seeing the S3 when I picked up the cage, it looks good on them!

I made a few little changes today.

All the sticky marks are now off the back, and a "Midnight Motors" sticker has been added under the GTi16v badge. After a bit of trouble in the week, I also replaced both the main bulbs in the clocks as they were both blown. New number plates have also been fitted, and it had an oil and filter change, as I took the oil cap off and could instantly smell the oil was burnt. I also fixed the slight blow from the exhaust.

It should have the anthracite Super T's from the track car fitted next week, then the Cupra rims will be up for sale, and the others will be painted.

Will get a few pictures in the week, hopefully my dash parts will arrive this week too.

Latest addition:

I've decided that this isn't what I want as a daily. I need something more practical with a bit more room, so it will probably be up for sale coming into the summer months, once I've found the car I'm looking for. I'm going to carry on tidying it up until the time comes to sell, but it will be keeping the Mk3 Cupra rims, and the Super T's are up for sale, along with the red seatbelts.

:(
