Great results with the stage 2 mate.

Looks like your cars the test subject for mine :D as I'm interested to see what gains you get from the 3" TIP aswell as keeping an eye on how your FMIC performs.

Haha cheers mate.

The intercooler has done well.. Hoping to squeeze more bhp with the 3" TIP so it'll be tested a bit more. Can't wait to get the TIP!

Guys, after all the weekend joy for the car, now for a negative!

I have had the excess pollution light come on tonight while driving home from my mates, not too sure what it means as I've never had this come on before.. Car felt fine but just gently drove it home.. The light is fixed on. I have restarted the car but it's still there and not budging. I've not got vag-com but have a free version turning up in next few days fingers crossed. This should be able to diagnose the fault for me ok right?

I don't drive the car to work so it won't be moving now until it's scanned.

Just to confirm it is no.13 on pic below..

Could this be something to do with the Lambda I have read on another similar thread? The exhaust only got changed on Saturday!! :(

Bloody cars, you go and spend loads on them and this is how they repay you.......... lol.

Any help/info much appreciated!

That's a shame, if its' any consolation I've felt your pain recently mate! Could be lambda related but tbh there are hundreds of reasons that light could come on, only a fault code scan with VAGCOM or a code reader will tell you. The free VAGCOM will only go so far, you probably want to get a cheap ebay cable (about £8) and get the VCDS-lite software from the rosstech website, that's what I've done and it's as near to full VCDS/VAGCOM as you need to get for a mk1 LCR.

More than likely the lambda if your still boosting normal then it will be the one after the cat mines been on for about 3 years no problems , If you arnt getting boost then it's the 1st one

Cheers for the info mate. How much is VCDS-lite? I really need to be able to scan my car often instead if waiting for a fault, lol.

The one i ordered come with a cable but no idea if it'll show up the fault. Hopefully it will!

Ah nice one Dan. Mine is boosting as normal I could hear the jetex whooshing and there was no noticeable loss of power. So it's safe to drive with this on or you think scan to confirm poss lambda fail 1st? How much to fix, is it alot an that's why yours is still on? Lol

Tom you should get yourself a cheap ebay fault code reader aswell. I paid £18 for mine, i keep it in the car all the time and its saved my skin a few times. Its probably the best thing i have bought for my car, i also have vagcom but thats not practical to keep in the car.
On a brighter note, your car made good power, im really pleased for you mate. Its also good to hear the tx intercooler setup is doing well. Bill told me mine was also good :) glad to see you went for the 3" tip, i will get mine on order very soon and get my map tweeked to suit. Tom you readers ride is shaping up very well now :)

Hi Tom, the fault code you have now will 99.9% be down the fact that you have a Race-Cat on your car. The second lamda sensor after the Cat is detecting an exhaust flow greater than the expected value set in the ECU for an OE Cat.

Solution?

Buy and angled lamda sensor spacer from ebay to remove it from the flow and trick the ECU into thinking that everything is OK. I paid about £13 for mine, delivered and after a few miles the EML switched itself off and hasn't been back on since :)

Yeah Sam, I'm thinking of ordering one to keep in the car. Have you got one to recommend? Think you told me one ages to get but never got round to it unfortunately.

Thanks for the comments, it did make some nice power. I was surprised, I was hoping for around the 270+ mark with plenty of torque and it went a bit further.. I think the TX cooler has proved itself now with mine and yours mapping well and the intercooler itself getting good feedback from Bill and Shaun at AmD. They know their stuff alright!

Yeah I've got to take the plunge on the 3" TIP after seeing Adam's at the weekend. Looks like a great bit of kit. He made pretty decent figures too ;) I will see about getting the map tweaked to suit the 3" TIP if it needs it you think? I would have thought the ECU might adapt enough for it to just 'slot' into my setup.

It's shaping up nicely looking back at it over the past year yeah. Cheers bud. Plenty more to come though. Want it finished before or during summertime really so it's purely maintenance costs from there on!

Hopefully the fault light is nothing serious. And hopefully you can get it sorted before the meet!!

Thanks Shane, hopefully it's nothing much :)

Hi mate,

Thanks for your post. I have read this before when someone on here had a Blueflame fitted but the light was flashing and then staying constant for a while. But I guess my 2nd lambda is detecting the wrong flow constantly at the moment. Did this happen to you instantly after having an uprated cat and downpipe? Or did the EML light just appear after a while of driving? Seems odd it took a couple of days to pop up.

Do you have a link for the ebay sensor you bought if it's still available? If I'm to buy one, it would be reassuring that it's one which has resolved the same issue on a fellow LCR owners' car. Of course, providing it is definitely the same issue.

They would have been mapped out though, surely?

I would have thought so Lee. Maybe it's worth me calling AmD today and just telling them what's happened and if they agree with JamJay it should be a simple fix.

My EML stayed off for about a week and then was on constantly from then onwards.

This is the type of spacer that I used but the Ebay seller no longer exists it seems or he has stopped selling this spacer in particular.

The above don't ship abroad however.

Your next best bet is the 42DD (no, not a huge bra :p) spacer: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Oxygen-sensor...arts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item3363cc1193

I am sure that AMD can map the sensor out upon your request if you get the map tweeked but I didn't want that done on mine personally.

Sounds very similar what you had then bud.

You think that 42DD :cartman: will do the job? I won't buy anything just yet, as the car will hopefully be scanned tonight at my mates using vag-com. Plus I need to call AmD at lunch today and get their thoughts on it. As it's been done so recently, I'm sure they would be nice and maybe map it out for me. I wouldn't mind having this done tbh.

I was thinking about having the MAP tweaked as the 3" TIP should be on within a couple of weeks, and maybe a couple of upper boost hoses as I'm still running OEM one's.

Yeah give them a shout before messing about with the sensor yourself as I am sure they can map that out for you. I would had thought that the ECU has enough to adjust itself when you put the new TIP on without having to get them to tweek it but seen as you have to go in anycase you might as well right

You talk sense there Erdal :)
I think JamJay has probably got it spot on, but always dangerous to assume and buy something which you think is a fix, without scanning the car 1st.

Fingers crossed I can get it scanned tonight and AmD will give me some light into it on the phone at lunch.

If it is indeed what JamJay suggests, is it ok to drive the car guys? I won't damage the ECU will I surely by it reading the wrong CAT flow?

You can 100% map this error out, there is NO need for spacers etc..., i have a full blueflame system with 200cell race cat and i got mine mapped out.

BTW its fine to drive the car with this, but get it sorted.

Cheers Robbie. I was planning on going to AmD the weekend after this one coming up, so I'll ask them at lunch if they can sort this for me at no cost seeing as I just lumped out a load of cash at the weekend for the stage 2/exhaust work! Will see what they say.

Should I take it easy on the car though, or am I ok to give it hefty boost still while the light is on? I don't like driving like a granny that's all.. :)

LOL, it a pretty minor change, They should have 100% done this with your stage 2 remap, its a pretty standard request and should be done FOC.

I had this on my car for a month with no side effects.

I should have thought of it before I got it done really...

Will let you know what they say at lunch but tell them I'm coming on that saturday for it to be mapped out FOC!

Nice to know I can still drive around with it on. When I saw it come up last night I thought it's just my luck, I get it to this stage and now it doesn't want to work..

Cheers for the help mate.
