Don't know where you are in the country but if you live near a Britannia Tyre place, give them a call as they're very good, i paid £155 for a pair of 205 40 17 Rainsport 2's, fitted
Never knew it was a race design but ive read about the Yamaha connection which is why it has the variable induction as it works the same as a powerband which feels like a turbo coming in I do admit to taking mine to 7000 + just to hear the scream, sounds very Italian.
Also the Lotus input into the suspension set up makes for great handling in the dry, wet and rain is hero land only though
There's some great race vids on You Tube plus one guy in Greece sweeping through some twisty hilly roads racking up the gears which sounds great on headphones.
Mind you it takes a little thought and some effort to drive it fast and get the best out of it and in the real world of day to day driving my FR Tdi would leave it for dust, such is new car TDi development.

Still off topic. Have you been on the club site for the Mk1 MR2? Loads of info for it, the Americans love them too and really make an amazing job restoring a lot of them.
I used to belong to the MK1 owners club which was based at Stevenage. I went for a couple of meets when i first got the car but tbh i was 15 years too old
I post on the Two Brutal forum for advice on repairs and upgrading.
I did the suspension, shocks and polybush last years and I am halfway through doing the cambelt and water pump at the moment. Paul Woods of Woodsport is really helpfull. His currently fitted a V8 4.2 Audi engine to a mk 1(it actaully fits) and you can follow his story, A couple of You Tube vids as well, its quite amazing.
