Pin Money

Just got an Ibiza mark 5 1.4 petrol. Got a good deal on a brand new Chill 5 door in Red, didn't like the looks too much though so got them to throw in the bodykit and lowering springs for cheap :funk:

Anyways I'm going to be trying to tidy it up a little bit as I go along, anyone got any tips for nice mods I can do?

Also, as I got the car to try and save some money on petrol (just got rid of a C2 VTS that was giving 18mpg), can anyone with a 1.4 let me know what sort of MPG they are getting?

Cheers

Welcome aboard

38mpg seems a common figure for the 1.4.

cheap and easy mods:
change the lights (see the FAQ section for guides and what bulbs work)
change the aerial for something stubby (search for anthedge's my pride and joy thread for pictures)
paint the badges on the grill
replace the front grill for the FR version
paint the brakes
(limited to cosmetic mods really, not much you can get out of the 1.4 engine)

oh, and get some pictures up :)

Any pics of the FR grille? Where can I get one?

Got mine at 11,000 miles, since then it's been doing 40-45mpg (mostly motorway driving), on a very long run i got up to 50mpg, and its :censored: round town on fuel!

as far as mods go, pretty much what nightflight said, if you want performance, induction kit, cat back system (powerflow etc) and a remap will get you to 100 horses, maybe a tad more and set you back about £700/£800!

a big one right now for everyone is going low, so coilovers, but again, £600ish for a nice set...

Welcome to the site mate.

Get some pics up when you can of the car, sounds nice! I've also got a 1.4 (SC Version), have done a few comestic mods, my project thread has a few pictures in.

Yep I fitted it to mine and I have the factory fitted bluetooth. The w8 light has the same slot for the bluetooth mic as the standard light. It just clips out of the old light and into the w8 one.

Welcome, I've also recently got a 1.4 Ibiza. Mine is doing mid 30s town and mid 40s motorway, but this is with the older EU4 engine, the 2011MY cars use a slightly more efficient EU5 version of the 1.4. I'm not really into mods so can't help you with that, the Chill is quite well equipped as standard.

Going to fill up tonight, so will be able to post a few more figures later.
Screw it. No one gives a **** anyway.

How much did you get the bodykit thrown in for?

I got an Accessories booklet through the door today from SEAT and it's down as being £999 - excluding painting and fitting!

Yo Alan

It is indeed £999, plus they want £540 to fit them normally.

They were keen to get the deal so got the whole shebang for £1100- took lots of haggling though!

Not too bad, that! It improves the look of the car no end, especially from the back.

Thinking about getting the springs myself when I pick my motor up, even though they only lower the car by a 20mm (?) or so.

Welcome and sounds like a good deal you got!
FR grille looks as follows, although if you've got the body kit, i'd stay stick with the standard as it goes better.

Which matches the bottom honeycombe, but like i said if you're getting the body kit keep the original. That pic shows the sidelights if you change them too :) look alot nicer in white light.

Exactly what I was thinking, as the FR matches the honeycomb it's a good look, but I like the juxtaposition of the horizontal / vertical grill slats the bodykit offers, and the honeycomb grill just wouldn't work.

welcome mate, mines the same as yours also!

top cars, just dont expect much mpg running around in it :)

Hmmm, as long as it's better on the motorways I'll be happy. My commute in the week is only 10 mins, but I drive 2.5hrs every other weekend to see my gf

Hello everyone btw

depends what your used to mate, ive come from a '06 1.9 TDi passat that was doing 56mpg + on the motorway at 80mpg + (cough cough [B)])

but with the SEAT im getting 44-46 sat at 3000rpm with is below 70 :( so loosing more than 10mpg and driving everywhere slower makes it feel worse for me, but if your used to something abit thirsty you'll probs be okay with it.

Jeez I hope mine does a bit better! MY C2 VTS was doing about 18mpg at 90mph cruising though so anything should be better than that!

Edit: Just noticed your Fatlace sticker mate, you involved with the mag?

Last night I drove for 20-25 minute varying between speeds of 70-75mph on motorway to 30mph town driving and even stopped for 3 minutes. My car has done just over 7.5k miles and I was getting an average of the below :

Was actually quite impressed with the results as when i first got it I'd struggle to average 35 MPG! Hope this helps

Yeah that is helpful, anything over 35 will be a massive improvement for me so :D

Can't wait to pick it up!
