:confused:Been reading alot about this and am so tempted to do my cupra. All i've done to mine is a k&n panel and a Miltek system (c/w cat).
At what point would I need to go to a fmic?
Also been told that going to stage 2 I could potentialy reach 240bhp. Is this probable?

Cheers
Jules

Stage 2 is FMIC territory. Stage 1 will be fine using standard coolers, but you might find it suffer heatsoak if your ragging it around a track etc.

240bhp easily done with right mods and map to suit from 180 Cupra. Quite a few on here have done it.

like tom said mate stage one, your be fine
i had my old cupra stage 1 but i did get a lot of heat soak, i had the fmic in the end and made a huge diffrence, still the remap was the best mod i had done,
i booked my LCR in for the remap whilst on the way home from buying it lol

the slightest little thing and its noticed!
i went from an "oem" 210 lcr to 268 in 10 mins lol since then iv fitted the tip the N249 bypassed the N75 changed to the "H", a little tweek of the boost pulls like a steam train and its done just over 120K...

There's so much that can be done perhaphs the fmic is the before any remap. When the exhaust system went on it was instantly noticed how the engine 'breathed' better.

the toyo sport kit is good and its cheap, i used the mk4 golf one on my LC as the top charge pipes are a little wider than the leon ones BUT needs some bits welding on and a flange made up and welded on, a lot of hastle for the sake of a little bit wider pipe that made no diffrence lol but hey ho thats me

Revo stage 1 and just forge split r. I was very shocked at how much of a difference it has made. you will never look back.

I've been playing with the idea of a remap for a while and i can't bring myself to do it. I don't want to wreck my turbo etc. Was looking into changing to a bigger turbo etc to help cope with the higher psi instead of overcooking my K03s but it's so expensive as would insurance.
I'm thinking of trading my Cupra 20VT for the new BMW 330d M-Sport Coupe instead. 6sec to 62mph and 40-60mpg (manual gearbox), £80 a year less to tax and been much better looking is becoming too much to resist. lol
I like the 3.0L Alpina D3 bi-turbo putting out 400bhp and doing the 0-62 sprint in 4.7sec but then going derv becomes pointless as you loose all the benefits and it's too many pennies anyway.

I know where your coming from. It's a difficult decision to make, but reading other peoples threads it seems the best way forward:confused:

i cant see remap killing your turbo. maybe your driving style?

^This

A friend of mine has just had his 150bhp Golf remapped to 222bhp by ******. This would only really put extra strain on the clutch but as he's already uprated that he shouldn't encounter any problems at all, it's a no-brainer mod.

When i have all relevant mods I'll definately be getting a custom stage2 from somewhere.

A remap won't kill your turbo. Your driving style will if you don't know how to treat them.

Give it the beans when the car is NOT warmed up and also not cooling your turbo down by coming off boost before you park up after it's been used strongly will ruin the turbo.

I never boot it until 20-30mins into a drive, and come off boost on my drives home way before the car switches off on the drive.

If you don't follow those steps or similar, your turbo will go mapped or non-mapped.
