still early days for you yet then. cant help but think of these engines as grenades! when you drive them off the forecourt thats you pulling the pin out
Yeah I'm aware of that. Could change my mind in the near future, for the worst possible reasons.
stage 1 is as far as it willl go with no modifications.
stage 2 is as far as it will go with a free flowing exhaust
stage 2+ as much as it'll do with an intake, exhaust and intercooler
Stage 3+ ring out as much as possible from it and watch the gearbox shed teeth like pensioner with a toffee apple and the clutch melt into cheese whizz!
similar thing happened with the K03 TFSI engine. The fuel pump wasnt known well enough and had a smaller capacity in the midrange due to its design and the stage 1 maps used to cause horrific fuel cut.
they then wound back the stage 1 and 2 maps so there was no fuel cut and introduced the stage 2+ which had an uprated fuel pump. maybe it'll be the same with this car.
Also ill be keen to see if there will be different more meaty injectors on the Polo R when it arrives (if its a 1.4TSI) just like what was on the S3

54K and no issues, that is ok I think. I have tried my damndest to re-create the fault in mine too and it just aint happening. Keeping a close eye on it though.
not sure of the point your making in this post, if your saying revo poss max out injectors on stage1 then adding a free flow exhaust doesnt then increase your injector flow more, and same with intake ect. stage 2 and 2+ as you know arnt just parts added its software as well and imo would be more fuel at different points in the map/rev range.
my point is there must be "headroom" on stage one for them to request more for stage 2 and 2+

But is it no issues? or does he drive it with issues without know they exist? us on the forum are more likely to spot faults ect as we are aware of what goes wrong ect and wrap the cars in cotton wool. your average joe driving one may not spot the faults we do. they not realise ratting gearboxes or the odd missfire every now and then and i would put my money on it oil very rarely gets checked if at all.
this is in reference to your average joe sort of person that sees there car as a box with wheels that gets you from AtoB. these are also the faults and problems people are having that we dont hear about.
to add i expect more than 54k out of a motor/gearbox lol
i agree with you but hearing that most folk have issues way before that mark I am still inclined to say not ALL of these engines are problematic and only a select few are, as previously said it seems to mainly affect the early models ie 59 plates and "some" 10 plate cars. Has any one with a 60 or 11 plate had issues yet or are their mileages still too low at the minute?
this would be good to find out. im not just trying to slate these cars believe me i would love to see these problems got to the bottom of. what plate is yours on jc?
I am on a 10 plate mate. Had the management light flash up twice and not again. like I said I have tried everything to replroduce the fault and can't seem to do it. I am on about 11.5K now so still early days for me mate. Fortunately my dealership is pretty helpfull and asked me to go straight to them if the fault comes up again so they can see if they get an error code to produce to SEAT and sort it out with any new bits that are required. No problems though thus far.
i have a 10 plate cupra... had revo stage 1 put on in dec 2010... management light came on jan/feb time a few times, just for a few seconds pulling hard at a set of traffic lights/ overtaking etc.... had seat update and new updated revo software put back on.. not seen/heard anything since
but stage 2 takes into account a more efficient exhaust, so less restriction = more power but not necessarily more fuel. Add an exhaust and your exhaust gas temperatures will reduce so they can run slightly higher boost as well.
Stage 2+ takes into account the higher efficiency of the exhaust and intake, and advances in ignition timing due to the cooler inlet charge from the intercooler, so not necessarily more fuelling.
Each time you add these bolt ons for stage 2 or 2+ the newer maps dont necessarily ask for any more fuel than in stage 1, but they ask for more boost or timing as the new mods will allow the more aggressive setup and thats where you getting the extra power.

I've got a 60 plate cupra, standard atm but booked for a map soon, just coming up on 10k. No problems (touch wood) yet.
I've had a look on ETOS. Looks like the fuel pumps are different for vehicles built after 1/11/2010. But the injectors are still the same.

Yeah its a ETKA minus a few features. Part numbers are

Spoke to TSR today, decided to use the 1 remaining 'good' piston as a pattern to order forged custom ones from germany. Plan is to rebuild then check setup on rolling road. Need it to last this time as it owes me too much money to walk away. There is a good car there somewhere, but I shouldn't have to remorgage to find it.
