Keep posting lol then put up a pic. I can't think of much on the passenger side that would have a spring in it.

What size is it? Is it greasy in anyway? Thick/thin coils? Hard to compress?

I think its a retaining sprig as its under tension not compression, and its clean, no grease, anyways, more random posting to do!!

I found mine in the drivers footwell a few years back , I think its to raise the seat height as I have`nt been able to do it since that spring came off

We have a winner....

That's the spring used to keep tension on the raise/lower mechanism, there's a fair chance the retaining tab has broken on the seat base. From what I can see (without welding or drilling/bolting something in place) there's no way to easy fix this.

You could be lucky and it's just pinged off, although I wouldn't hold my breath - found exactly the same spring under the driver's seat in the gf's old Golf when it was being broken for parts. I partially dismantled the recline mechanism to have a decent look at things and the small metal tab which locates one end towards the rear of the seat had broken off.

Lol fancy that, I found the exact same spring lying at my foot peddles one day after my gf had taken the car out that same day. Naturally I was concerned but we tested everything and it all appeared to be working. Mystery solved.:wtf:

I have exactly the same part lying in my shed waiting to see if it can go on but everything is working fine regarding moving the seat in every which way, so a little excess weight removed that means an extra Big Mac for me !
