Its only a "free upgrade" on the S and SE - NOT the Sport Tech...just an equipment change ??????

In the S and SE its an optional extra you have to select, and if you have selected it you get the Pioneer instead. In the Sport Tech its standard equipment, so now its a change to that.

The wording is irrelevant really though.

Irrelevant? I'm decided that if mine arrives next week with the Pioneer unit I will be rejecting the whole car.

Mine is bought as a company car, so I wasn't privy to the documentation upon ordering, but I bet there is some small print somewhere saying that 'spec may change etc etc'

I wouldn't reject the car however, so long as they agree to replace the head unit with the standard one when the part comes in. I'm sure the dealer would rather do that than have to swallow the cost of the whole car ....

.... mind you, it's been months since I have seen an Exeo in a Seat showroom. My local dealer said they just can't get them as customer builds are higher priority - so they might be glad of a unexpected showroom example .... to drive more sales and make the waiting list even longer ... lol

If the Pioneers bluetooth integration works well I think it might be ok.
Yes its a shame no directions on the DIS, but is that worth more than full postcode entry?

My old Sat Nav only had short postcode and I hated it, worried the standard one is the same.

I look forward to testing this with a dealer when they get a Pioneer unit in.

Mine is a private purchase, come resale time i would think that a factory fit sat nav would be preferable to buyers over an after market unit. For this reason alone I dont want the pioneer uint. For SEAT Uk to say the Pioneer is Standard fit on a tech is not really true if models after week 26 they start supplying cars with RNS again. We know the DIS wont work with the Pioneer, but does anyone know how, or if it will affect the BOSE sound upgrade?

Looking online it looks like there may be a cable so it functions with Bose.
I am sure Seat worked with Pioneer to get as much functionality as possible with the temp unit.
Which is a good thing if your considering after market.

Just been speaking to a friend who has the RNS-E he says he rarely looks at the DIS Nav, but may miss the DIS info on track and radio info.

Oh yeah .... didn't think about the speakers.

I assume it'll be the Bose speakers still .... the standard ones are pretty poor considering the spec of the car. My girlfriends Corsa has better sound quality than the Exeo.

Its not so much the speakers i'm concerned about. This article on the BOSE site for the Exeo states 'Replacing the factory-installed headunit (i. e. radio-CD/navigation system) or any other sound system component can significantly reduce system performance.'

Then again it might not??? Seeing the image of it installed, i have to say i much prefer the look of the RNS system. The pioneer looks a bit lost in there.

I wonder if they would type a new part reference description, if they are simply replacing ALL standard media system units with the Pioneer unit.

My guess is that if it says Standard, that means they put the Pioneer in.

Here is the extract from the SEAT memo:-

"How to identify affected cars:- We have added option code S1G to these cars in SLi so you can identify them...."

So if the dealer pulls up your order, under the options section with the 3 letter abreviations if it shows "S1G" then its the Pioneer unit - if not then its the standard fit.

I think I prefer the functions of the Pioneer Unit - ho hum.

Why oh why in this day and age of wizzy technology do SEAT fit a unit that only does short postcodes and not full ones !!!

It is a tough one.

The Pioneer is a far superior unit from a functionality point of view. But you don't get the dash display (not really an issue for me) and the screen is a bit smaller.

The killer for me is that it just doesn't blend into the rest of the dash .... having said that, I've only seen it fitted and off. Maybe when it's on it looks better.

For me, it's a company car, so I'm not bothered about the resale ... but if I was, i bet the original units will be all over ebay for £200 in a couple of years.

I would assume you could to a straight swap back to the original and all the features would work - I doubt they would make any special wiring changes.

I could be wrong ... usually am :)

My Seat dealer has told me that all Exeos (specced with Sat nav) will have the pioneer from now on. I guess they will have to reprint the 2012 brochure. They said they didnt know about the change until I mentioned it. There seems to be a lack of general hard information on this whole area of changing the SAT NAV. Its a shame they didnt choose to put in the model up from the F930. It would have filled the hole in the center console better and looks like a great unit.

I have done a bit of research on how it might affect the BOSE upgrade. Quoted from the FAQ's on the BOSE site question 7 says. 'Can I connect another radio to my BOSE® sound-system? No. Each BOSE® automotive music system is completely integrated, with every element custom engineered to work as a whole. If you install a new radio, the results could include decreased sound quality, incorrect bass and treble balance, distortion at high volumes, and a loss of bass at low volumes.' So you cant just change the stereo and still expect it to work with the BOSE kit properly. All Seat need to do now is upgrade the seats from leather to vinyl and the whole tech pack will be changed . I'm am joking, but I am just very suprised I had to read about this change on here, rather than being notifed by the dealer. I could then make an informed decision. My car should be here in a few weeks, so I will decide what to do then. If I could reorder and know it was an RNS system I would.

Hi all
I picked up my seat Exeo ST 3 days ago 7th Aug 2011. This has the new Pioneer model with problems. No steering controls, bad sound and no dash broad screen controls. Been given the run around from my dealer from day one. Now told the dealer will contact seat on how to fix the Pioneer as the dealers tec guys have no knowledge of the unit. Any body with any help on whats going on with this Pioneer **** up. please please contact me [email protected].
