sorry about delay in response! was a busy afternoon/evening yesterday after a trip DTUK then getting our 2 niggly boys into bed...
so, after REVO's response i was happy (well, happy enough) to try DTUK box.
Andrew was all prepared and had his guy fit the cable to the leon inc. the cable to the turbo pressure sensor.
first run was with software that was only a small % increase in bhp/Nm just to see how the leon reacted.
it drove normally no problems or errors.
quick stop and flicked the jumpers on the box to the 2nd map - bit more bhp/Nm - all still ok.
first 2 maps didnt work with the turbo pressure sensor parameters, just different maps in an older style 1 cable install
all ok, back to DTUK for new CRD-T software to be written to the box. 5 mins later we're back on the road testing out. again no worries.
how did it drive?
first i'll say that the local roads to DTUK we're soaked and it rained all the time.
first map -couldnt feel any difference, small flicker of traction control light
second map - just noticable improvement, mainly at say over 50 leptons/hour. especially noticeable pull at over 70 leptons/hr, lots of TCS light out of juntions
third - CRD-T - Map
this, now using the turbo pressure parameters was more noticeable at all speeds but especially at 70+. didnt have the roads to try it but i suspect the 50-120 leptons/hr is vastly improved
lots of TCS light
difficult to gauge just how aggressive it due to losing traction so much.
i think it would have felt pretty angry in the dry.
my other thought is the DSG smooths out the power delivery nicely (standard and with box fitted) so its difficult to feel the pace of the car truely until you read the speedo
i had them remove it from the car as i wanted to think about it for a bit.
thing thats got me wondering now is that circa £360 for DTUK box is very similar price to REVO when they have the £100 off discount running.
we'll not get into the "box is easier to remove" / "revo is safer/better/more powerful" debate....i just wanted anyone thats wondering to know my thoughts..
ps volvo seems sweet, smooth addition of power, not aggressive (doesnt want to be, its the family wagon/caravan tow bus lol) and the run home returned 45 mpg which is about 10% better than normal on that type of journey.
