P-torque
in my case im not looking for max figures becasue i dont want to break my DSG box. so a tuning box may suit my car better....possibly.
as for dpf, hopefully i'll not have probs with it being cr170 and doing 20 mile trip to/from work every day

what figures can you offer me? bhp/Nm/£££.........remember i dont want monster torque as the torque is already 350Nm from the factory

A tuning box delivers a much sudden torque spike than a map so the opposite actually applies.

A good map is developed to deliver torque smoothly, and avoid spikes. We have carried out many tests on the DSG boxes, on almost every VAG model and know what works well. We can remap the DSG software where needed.

We tune to approx 211hp and 320 - 330lbs/ft torque. Figures aside, its the delivery of power at various load and throttle positions that is crucial

I would prefer a remap but i don't think i can persuade the other half :ban:

She'd only let me get something that i can sell on or use on my next car because i change my cars too much

Absolutely nothing wrong with DTUK tuning boxes at all! I had one for my Astra from Andrew himself and once I have saved some pennies I'm gonna go back and get one for my Leon :D

You'll get an power increase from a tuning box, but never anywhere near the overall result of a proper dyno remap.

So many many parameters are adjusted to ensure the car leaves as it should have come from the factory.

Plus, DPF + Tuning box =

Well we ran our Leon for 10000 miles using crdt before releasing the system without any worries Will.

Like remaps, there are good and bad remaps, the same as boxes. You wouldn't want your remaps compared to the guys that pul up with a laptop and a disc full of eBay files would you?

So don't class all boxes the same as the rubbish that's available on the Market.

As for the boxes not giving a smooth delivery of torque, the last time I compared our rolling road graph to Revos graph it was very similar .

Emailed received, I'll reply soon :D

Oh, gaud not you lol :-o

Hello Andrew  Well you are tempting me to come back for a box for le Leon :D

You know ill look after you ;) the Leon is. Great car, but so much better once it's tuned , add a pedal box too and it's rather good

:ban:
We will speak soon sir. I won't be at PVS this weekend afterall.

Me neither as were getting the ttrs sorted for GTI International as were heading own there with Juicy :D

Hi!

Not knocking your boxes, I just know there is a huge difference between a good map and a tuning box.

There are a massive amount of parameters changed and adjusted so that the ECU can correctly adapt as it does from factory. We adjust various maps purely dedicated to the DPF sensors alone.

Read plenty of good things about your boxes on the Vauxhalls though, so each to their own! ;)

well, i'm going to see Andrew - DTUK tomorrow to get a box for our volvo XC90 and try the CRD-T on my Leon.

will see how it feels then make my decision from there.
i know it will drive faster/stronger etc but i dont want to feel like its too much for the DSG clutches.

also i dont want to have all that power there and only be able to feather the throttle in (whilst trying to be sympathetic to the DSG again) so if its mad aggressive then maybe i'll not bother.

i'll report back on my thoughts

Had my EXEO Fitted with DTUK box and had no problems [ there are 4 maps to work from] ,although torque at Nm 423?? may be too much for the DSG - some USA web site may have more DSG design data though. ..........................................good luck

Good man, let us know how you get on.

Have you ever had a remap to compare it to?

nah, i havent. we'll see eh.
sort of hoping that the DSG doesnt throw a wobbler seeing more torque going into it...
if it does then i'll have to whip it straight off.

hopefully DTUK will have a VAG-COM to sort things if it needs it.

just rang Revo to discuss their remaps and potential problems with DSG torque limiter....
they calling me back tomoro

Revo response to my question is that a good remap (ie theirs) woudl not encounter problems with the DSG. they suggested the factory 350Nm limit can be overridden by their 'good' remap and thats not needing to pay for a transmission remap its part of their engine remap service for my particular vehicle.

they were a little vague and non commital which is fine they dont want to give away secrets but they concluded sayingtheir Occy vRS cr170 DSG is running 340lbs/ft with no bother to the box and not being limited to 350Nm by the DSG control module.

sweet.

i'll hope that the DTUK is good enough to sort the DSG out also.

sorry about delay in response! was a busy afternoon/evening yesterday after a trip DTUK then getting our 2 niggly boys into bed...

so, after REVO's response i was happy (well, happy enough) to try DTUK box.
Andrew was all prepared and had his guy fit the cable to the leon inc. the cable to the turbo pressure sensor.

first run was with software that was only a small % increase in bhp/Nm just to see how the leon reacted.
it drove normally no problems or errors.

quick stop and flicked the jumpers on the box to the 2nd map - bit more bhp/Nm - all still ok.

first 2 maps didnt work with the turbo pressure sensor parameters, just different maps in an older style 1 cable install

all ok, back to DTUK for new CRD-T software to be written to the box. 5 mins later we're back on the road testing out. again no worries.

how did it drive?
first i'll say that the local roads to DTUK we're soaked and it rained all the time.
first map -couldnt feel any difference, small flicker of traction control light

second map - just noticable improvement, mainly at say over 50 leptons/hour. especially noticeable pull at over 70 leptons/hr, lots of TCS light out of juntions

third - CRD-T - Map
this, now using the turbo pressure parameters was more noticeable at all speeds but especially at 70+. didnt have the roads to try it but i suspect the 50-120 leptons/hr is vastly improved
lots of TCS light
difficult to gauge just how aggressive it due to losing traction so much.
i think it would have felt pretty angry in the dry.
my other thought is the DSG smooths out the power delivery nicely (standard and with box fitted) so its difficult to feel the pace of the car truely until you read the speedo

i had them remove it from the car as i wanted to think about it for a bit.

thing thats got me wondering now is that circa £360 for DTUK box is very similar price to REVO when they have the £100 off discount running.

we'll not get into the "box is easier to remove" / "revo is safer/better/more powerful" debate....i just wanted anyone thats wondering to know my thoughts..

ps volvo seems sweet, smooth addition of power, not aggressive (doesnt want to be, its the family wagon/caravan tow bus lol) and the run home returned 45 mpg which is about 10% better than normal on that type of journey.
