It has to be raw DOS, not DOS mode. The bootable version of VDS Pro is the easiest way to get into DOS and run the application.
Ok, so I've tried the 6.22 DOS VDS from here: filecrop.com/VDS-Pro-dos.html (google: VDS Pro dos)
but upon booting into it the VDC_E.exe dissapears when I check the directory using 'dir' Although I can put the same disk and do the same thing with command prompt under XP and it magically reappears; 40 files vs 49 files...
Also, opening VDC_E.exe with XP booted in safe mode w/command prompt says it cannot open 'COM1' so that explains the zero-communication through XP.
Quickly running out of options here, can anyone email me their bootdisk? as my post above^ thaaaaaanks
