It has to be raw DOS, not DOS mode. The bootable version of VDS Pro is the easiest way to get into DOS and run the application.

Ok, so I've tried the 6.22 DOS VDS from here: filecrop.com/VDS-Pro-dos.html (google: VDS Pro dos)

but upon booting into it the VDC_E.exe dissapears when I check the directory using 'dir' Although I can put the same disk and do the same thing with command prompt under XP and it magically reappears; 40 files vs 49 files...

Also, opening VDC_E.exe with XP booted in safe mode w/command prompt says it cannot open 'COM1' so that explains the zero-communication through XP.

Quickly running out of options here, can anyone email me their bootdisk? as my post above^ thaaaaaanks

Oh my sweet jes... I think I actually love you simon, thank you all so much!

Lingering question remains though; why couldn't I find that image anywhere else?
For future reference I've kept a copy in my archives for anyone who needs it ;) or help any locals in surrey!

That's precisely why I keep hold of it, it was made up by one single person on a forum somewhere and all the other downloadable copies of VDS Pro are just the application itself. All credit to the original author, although I can't even remember which forum I got it off now!!

Have you actually got it working now or are you still waiting for a chance to try it?

Yep all working now, super easy following these instructions: cardiagnostics.be/now/VAS%205052_bestanden/Windows%20roll%20up%20with%20VDS.htm

and that software which I cant link, someone could host it publicly and make a sticky How-to out of it?

Mate, I bought one of them and it didn't work for me. Give it a go if you want but as I say it didn't work for me.

I then got one of these cables which worked with VDS Pro on my Ibiza. I haven't tried it with VCDS.

Just ordered one of these cables.

I have an old laptop with a serial cable so once I get the cable and get it all up and running I'll let you guys know.

More than happy to help any other folks out if you want to come over to York.

I'l keep you posted.

Without wanting to sound like a killjoy, this software is unforgiving if you mess up. Please be extremely careful as I'd hate it if people mess up their CCM's through a small mistake. Be careful guys!

Amen to that!! you don't get any 'are you sure' messages, one press of the return key at the wrong time and that's it.

I'd strongly recommend you go through the process with the 'read only' option first, to see exactly how critical it is. Then when you're absolutely sure go into the 'write' option.

Im in Doncaster which is next to sheffield if you would wanna meet ?

Hiya mate, just to let you know I'm not going to be able to sort your windows out at the moment. My laptop's CD-ROM has packed up, until I can get a new laptop I'm stuck.

I'll keep you updated, but I'm afraid it won't be any time soon.

Hi folks.

Just to let you know that I can now do this.

Got my serial cable and discovered that my other half's laptop has a serial port on.

Just sorted it on mind in about 5 mins.

So if you're anywhere near York and want this doing then give me a shout.

Hello guys! I have a 2007 Cordoba 6L. Here is a part of the log done with VCDS:
Address 46: Central Conv. Labels: 6Q0-959-433.lbl
Part No: 6Q0 959 433 E
Component: Komfortgerát 0002
Coding: 00018
Shop #: WSC 06402
I looked at a lot of posts about the auto windows issue...went from link to link and still not sure about how to do this for my car. I am planning to get a laptop with serial port as none of the ones I have has one. Also the cable...but can anyone post the codes for Ibiza/Cordoba 6L (or mk4)? Cause as I said they're still unclear for me. Thank you!

Once you get your laptop, send me a PM and I'll talk you through it. If you read all the codes first, you will be able to see which ones apply to you as the others will be nonsense values.

Great! I'll get it today. I've been lookin for some time and finaly found one with a working battery too. Even if I cannot do the auto windows for my car I'll still get it for other things. Did you ever do it for a car with the PN identical to mine? I have found this topic:
forums.tdiclub.com/showthread.php?t=223793
It might not work on mine. ?!? Anyways...I was thinking to buy a new CCM from a scrap yard if mine doesnt work. (I have to look more into that.) The thing is that it costs about 50Euro which I find acceptable.
About PM, I can't do that yet but if you'd be kind to send any info on untipdan [at] yahoo [dot] com
It would be great! Thank you very much!
