Hi,

Im concerned how I am constantly getting moisture in my car. I have to constantly dry the condensation off from the inside of the windscreen.

Im starting to think that moisture is getting in some how. My last car was very bad for it, during winter I would have to scrap off the frost from the outside and inside of my windscreen.

I was hoping that a 2010 plate would not have bad seals!?

I seem to have the same problem. I can go into the car and the windscreen is clear and once I start the car its gets all misty and I will have to sit for 5mins while it clears.

I thought it was just me! Its the same when I switch from aircon to the normal fan the windscreen will again start to mist up so I constantly keep it on air con.

I have always had this problem, but that's due to taking wet and sweaty hockey kit in my car lol
easy solution, once every so often get a dehumidifier and plonk it in the car over night :) always works for me

I Have heard silica gel, VERY cheap and sometimes comes with new clothes. Put some of them in and it shouldn't be a problem or so i have been told.

This issue has been discussed a number of times on here and has been a problem on both of the cars we have had.

Use of the air con gets it clear much quicker - also a tip I have read is turn off the air con during the last mile of your journey home as the moisture gets trapped in the system.

As soon as the fan drags the moisture onto the windows you get the problem. Try starting up with the setting in the direction of the footwell.

This is the first car I have seen do this so bad after six from VW and three from Audi.

Exact same problem here, in fact I had to pull over and stop on one occasion due to the lack of viz despite the screen being clear when I first started off.

I've been told that on the 1.2TSi no heat whatever is sent to the heater for the first 2 minutes in order to get the engine up to temperature quickly. But I have also found that the car is slow at warming up the cabin on my 3 mile crawl to work every day - odd for an engine which has a reputation for running hot.

Perhaps I was spoilt by the electrically heated screen in my old Focus, but come to think of it, that would mist up too in similar conditions. On the other hand, the fine heating wires in the Ford were a real pain at night, as they caused distortion and glare - on balance I'd rather not have that sort of heated screen again. I believe Renault use a metallic film for heating, but that scuppers GPS units so you can't win!

Turning the A/C off a few minutes before getting home does help as the condenser section of the A/C gets a chance to dry out - it also reduces the risk of Air Con Pong, because the bugs like a wet environment to grow.

I use this in my Mk2 Leon, works a treat!!

Out of interest, at this time of year why would you have the a/c on other than at the start of your trip?

I've had my AC on all year round in all my cars. And truth be told, never had a single problem with the system in any car. Last one was a Toyota Avensis, 6 yrs I had it, never had it re gassed, never needed to, as the system was kept lubed all year round by having it on more than it was off. Even using it for warming the cabin, I don't see why you should not use it.

Basically, because on such short trips the car doesn't get warm enough to stay mist free; if the trip is more than about 6 or 7 miles then there isn't a problem - but mine is only 3.5

like i expect this time of year my window is misted or frozen up but when i go to demist it i can be driving ten mins and still all aint clear i think the fans are a bit shoddy on the windows

I'm the same I leave the A/C on all the time, keep the climate control on auto and the windows never really steam up apart from first thing in the morning if it's really cold.
