Hi Mate,

I work for VWFS and have a cupra through the loan scheme here... tbh at first the MPG and miles to the tank was awful but it usually is with a brand new car, but i was only getting 20-25mpg tops and i wasn't heavy footed at all.

However... the good news is after around a month of 50 miles each day it seems to have bedded in, and even not being so careful i'm easily pulling 40mpg and 400 miles on a tank venting on Vpower ^^

I wont be buying one brand new anyway so will of hopefully been run in for me, 400 miles to a tank would be perfect, out of interest how much is it roughly to fill the tank, £50 - £60?

I usually get near 300 miles to the tank, and I drive it like I stole it the majority of the time! I live 45 mins away from work and spend roughly £55 a week on petrol

Thats about what im spending now in my car so i can handle that, my finance will be cheaper too so should be win win.

I cant wait to get back into a car i can throw round corners and hear the pops and burbles from an after market exhaust. oh iv missed it!

yeah i'm on about £65 a week but i vent it most the time too on Super... Average petrol price around me for Vpower is £1.36ltr

even thats cheaper than diesel, i had to rnu my scoob on v power for the map and it cost a fortune but luckily i didn't have far to go back then.

Im looking for a car that maximum fun with cheap running costs and not the most expensive car to modify.

All i have in mind is TBE, induction kit, remap and lowering springs anyway, maybe an ARB and better brake pads etc.

The only car I can come up with is the cupra or FR. it has the advantage of a SEAT workshop being at my place of work if it needs anything too.

Aye i would love to make a few mods to the car just to see what difference it would make, unfortunately i'm not allowed to touch my car :(

To be honest i was a bit disapointed with the fun side of the cupra, i used to have a 206 180 GTI and it so much more fun to drive... guess its the DSG :( although, i dont think i want to go back to a manual now with the miles i do :)

What about an FR SC 2.0TDi with a DPF delete and remap to 200ish hp.

best of both worlds - nice and quick but good economy on the daily commute.

Alright geezers and ladies!

Iv recently started working for a seat dealership in Harrogate and need to get rid of my personal car.

I was thinking of getting a company car and buying another Scooby as a toy but now I'm thinking of just buying a Cupra as there mint.

My problem is the fuel consumption as I live a good 45 minutes away from work.

By the time iv paid for a Scoob and company car tax the Cupra will work out as roughly the same.

Is there anything to watch out for in Cupra ownership and what mpg could I expect on a steady/slightly fun combined drive?

Lastly what are they like for modding? What are the popular mods I.e turbo back exhausts, lowering springs / coilovers and remaps and are they expensive to tune?

Thanks.

i know this might sound stupid , but if you work in sales shouldn't you know the answer to all of the the questions you have posted?

After all if i was buying a car i would expect you to answer my questions i had?

this post did make me laugh , no wonder SEAT is going down hill

Oh yes very clever but as I did say I'v only been here a couple of months and yes I can quote official figures all day long but I want to know what the cars are really like to live with and drive on the commute everyday, how am I suppose to know what they are like modified just because I have been selling them for 2 months?

I think some people expect too much, if you had been working for o2 for 2 months could you tell me how much my bill will be?

Im bored with diesels mate, really wanting to go back to petrol, I know there quick with a map as mine has been done but just not a fan of how they deliver the power compared to a petrol.

Mate I wish i could afford to run a bike too, barely affording the car at the moment ha ha. love the CBR by the way, one of my favourites.

tbh i think robdf2 is being a ****... your new and at least u making an effort to learn about these cars. most salesman know f all about the products so i think its refreshing to have a sales guy show some interest in something other than taking our money lol

Thanks mate, I did initially register on here on my 2nd day so I could learn more about what you guys thought about the cars. any genuine selling points as well as any bad points to be aware of.

over the past few weeks iv really fallen in love with the ibiza cupra but iv not even had chance to drive one yet (not properly anyway).

We have a speed blue 10 plate done 16k in at the moment which im tempted to take if i can move my car on.

Thanks to everyone for your help :)

no problem, i work in a seat dealership as a service advisor so know full well salesman dont attempt to learn much very often. i also own a cupra, great for insurance, tax and not bad on fuel. bad sides are misfires ALL the time, engine issues, oil consumption, rattles like a trolley...but u'll probably find the guys on here still love them. good for u for taking it upon your self to venture outside the box by the way!...dont pay any attention to the negative people on here, most are more than helpful!

Ha ha cheers mate, don't upgraded spark plugs stop the misfire? I wouldn't be happy with rattling I don't think? Bit anal like that! What kind of engine issues could I expect? I should be ok working here anyway.

I have had my car in for misfires twice now and now they have fitted uprated spark plugs it has been fine!

Ok nice one, can anyone else comment in the rattles? It's putting me off abit because I know I'll hate that if it starts.
