Front spacers

Well as most know ive just bought new wheels, there 17inch with 205/40/17 tyres, my problem is when i go round corners at any kind of speed i hear a rubbing sound, at first i thought it was the tyres, but it appears its acctually the wheel rim, would spacers solve this? Or anything else i could do? Its lowered on coilovers aswell btw.

Spacing the front wheels isn't really recommended, I'm sure 4 or 5 mm wouldn't hurt it too much though!

17's should be ok. i have done over 100k with same size on and took some very fast corners with nothing touching at all. wife still has car now with no problems and well used shocks lol

I take it the rims catching the coilover. If it is it's a bit strange it's only hitting when turning.

Was yours lowered at all mate?

Blackcupra180 - i dont think its the coliover tbh, its the outside rim of the wheel, well the kip to be exact, it seems to be catching the inside of the arch, i was thinking if i spaced it out them at least it would be the tyre and not the wheel that catches?

Not from what i can see, not had a right good look yet but from what i can see just inside the arch theres a screw that holds the arch lining in, i reckon as im turning and the loads to a certain side the outter rim on the wheel is catching that.

Mines hasnt quite done that:O just seems the lip of the rim is catching something when i go roundabouts fairly quickly, on full lock when turning at normal speeds theres no issues.

I know i wouldnt mind to much if it was the tyre rubbing, if your at the meet on sunday any chance you can see if you can figure it out?

I've got 20mm spacers/adapters on mine, but your problem doesn't sound like its rubbing on the inside of the wheel. VRS wheels shouldn't rub on the coilovers, must be the arch liner.

Sounds to me like you're just too low! It's the only real explanation for it to be catching on the outside on standard size tyres, unless it was the inside of the wheel touching the spring/adjuster, but i'm unsure on the spec of Octy Spider wheels.

I 5mm spacer will only make it worse if it's the outside of the tyre. All i can suggest is raise the coilovers a few threads, maybe 5.
