Thanks Matt. I'm very tempted to get this unit now! as ive read on other units you have to drop the headlining and run a cable to the antenna etc.

I'm sure there is an igo update which allows postcode search. if not maybe it would be invest in tomtom

These are all the screens off mine, still cannot see anywhere specific for postcode entry (full or partial)

I select town and then put in a postcode and it works for me. That looks very similar to the version I'm running. I have a link somewhere for the download

Select the town field (Farnborough in my pic)

Then you have the option for town postcode

This has got me beat - well & truly!

Been trying for ages to look for map updates for the igo nav software, I have downloaded a programme onto my comp from naviextra that supposedly allows you to use the SD card from your device to allow updates, but the toolbox prog won't recognise the SD card to allow me to even look for updates!!!!!!:censored:

How in ****** name are you supposed to update it!???

Bubba,

When you nav boots up does the load screen looks like this (same logo and anme etc)??, Or does yours actually boot up syaing igo 8 instead???

Bubba,

Did you try that remote hack to swap the boot logo?

Did it work!?

Haven't tried yet, need to find where I put the remote :D

My postcode search is full postcode too

As for updates I'll try and find the link I used. My maps are the most recent which is a few years ago. You can also use Tom Tom maps too and I think I've got those on my laptop too

Tbh the main thing that's bugging me now is because I can't seemingly do straight updates for it ( like you can a tomtom), using the proper program from naviextras should supposedly have this effect and every time you pop your SD card into ya comp this programme should recognise ya nav SD card and show you any/all available updates for it!

When I asked the original seller about doing updates, he said something which struck me as strange at the time in that when you need updates you buy a new card with the new maps on it?!?!? I Spose this should have set alarm bells ringing as it doesn't/didn't make any sense & seemingly now it all sort of tally's up! Question is where does that leave us when we want to get up to date maps!?!?

Makes it hard because as far as I can tell the unit itself isn't/doesn't actually have or come from any particular brand name so looking for updates under the name of the device is difficult/next to immpossible, and if the "proper" programme that is used for updating igo software won't recognise the SD card (so won't let you search for genuine/pukka updates!), then your left looking for hookie versions, and this in itself is causing issues of its own as you/I cannot be sure WHICH version of igo we actually have as it boots up as igo primo, but from what I can tell this is generally an "APP" designation for the smartphone versions, and igo 8 is the dedicated/standalone "nav" version!!??

Whole point of this is - how good is this nav app going to be if you cannot properly update it with the newest/latest maps because (sounding like a cliche) our roads are constantly changing and a satnav that is x amount of years out of date is soon gonna prove defunct/useless isn't it!

Rant over (for now!)

Bubba,

What build version are you on!?

Mines 9.2.blah blah as above!

I'll find out mate and let you know. I'll upload my software for you too and you can compare (I think mine might be a newer update)
Mines using a different skin to standard so the menus and loadup screen are slightly different

Ok buddy cheers!

Have you ever tried that naviextras toolbox thingy though for updates to see if it recognises yours and shows the appropriate updates???

Where do you get your updates from n how do you usually apply them!?

Pretty sure the latest maps will atleast be Q1 2012 jobbies, anything older wil be out of date from what i can gather from that naviextras main site etc.

Wouldn't mind paying for legit map updates (i did for my tomtom), But if the pukka update tool won't recognise the nav prog on my SD card then that's a Non starter!

Makes me wonder if i have a legit version of the nav software tbh, and if not then that kinda seems like a con!

Looks like this isn't an isolated issue!

hey guys.

Looking to get one of these units for my pre-fl.

I fancy having a go at fitting this myself, but have a few questions first:

I dont have factory bluetooth, does this unit have it built it?
I have steering wheel controls, will i need to buy any extra cables?
Is this unit true plug and play or will i need some wiring knowledge?
Is the ipod control via the screen or is it via the ipod itself?
Has anybody got any videos of this in action as i'd like to see how responsive the screen is!
What is the audio control like and the outputs as i will eventually be adding a sub. is there sub control?

Thanks,
Ad

1) yes it has Bluetooth
2) Nope - all cables needed are there.
3) Almost plug n play - might have you scratching your head on a couple of things 9it did me) as there aren't any installation instructions.
4) Ipod control is via steering wheel buttons (as usual) and screen.
5) No videos but the screen is pretty responsive imo - not instant, but doesn't take that long either
6) What do you mean control!?

You can add subs etc, i asked the seller this question.
I assume the control is the setting up the bass/mid/trebble etc
