Its been there well over a year and a half, I remember seeing it parked up outside the garage and I only remember it from the hubs and shields being painted red. He mentions its just had its 3rd service.. was that when he got it 1.5 years ago? Has it been sat there all that time locked up? I think you could get a better deal or even a FL for that price?

As the above.

Shop around! Takes some leg work but you can find some ridiculous deals in the used car market today!

Your lucky I've just ordered a new one or I'd be test driving it as we speak - seriously!

What's on the order? :D

Well its gonna cost me 5495 plus my Astra that's only valued at around 2600 in px at all other garages seems not to bad to me but I know what you mean...can't understand why he's had it that long though, and price whys it compares with most Cupras I've saw autotrader

Hahaa , no , rather I wouldn't want to see someone end up with a dud car! We might be wrong and it turns out to be a peach and he just wants rid of it after having it so long... I think the message is to be very careful rather than totally forget about it ;)

Haha I know,,I know nothing about cars tbh I just looked at the mileage,1 owner, Guy Off here went to look at it and says it looks sound, god knows

If you like it and think its a good deal then thats all that matters mate. For the sake of a tank of fuel its worth going seeing it yourself

This may sound daft but if I go and look at it and its clean, the mileage is genuine, and it drives ok what else is there that I should watch out for as I say I'm no car expert?

Check for any evidence of accident damage.
Panel gaps colour difference etc.
If you do go ahead push for a warranty and check through the cars documents for a contact number for the previous owner.
This would set your mind at rest if its genuine.

If its been sat around for a very long time then my priority would be checking the condition of the braking system. Disks and calipers dont like long periods of inactivity and can corrode quite fast and the calipers can seize. A sticking caliper would be noticeable on a test drive but if you dont know what a buggered disk looks like then you could be onto an expensive bill. Then next thing would be suspension.. squeeky springs or sticking struts etc. Obviously they are all extreme and there is nothing saying that the garage owner hasnt been using it himself ( so it hasnt been left for a long period? )

Yeah he said he has done 500 miles in it I've been emailing him quite a bit he says the brakes are as sharp as anything and he refers to the previous owner on a first name basis he says he knows him well as he us a regular customer of his he bought the car from seat with a documented 2540 miles on the clock but he hadn't really used it hence the low miles

Looked OK on this front - but I'm also no expert.

Honestly looked very clean. Brakes, bodywork, engine, interior, the lot. He's been using it himself, it actually had some of his stuff in the boot when I looked at it.

You need to go and see it Neil. And perhaps get it checked by someone who knows a bit about cars. Like one or two are saying on here though, if you are in any doubt then leave it, there's always another one around the corner.

My My My

No doubt this will get removed but I am the guy selling this. To clarify , This is a geuine Cupra 2.0TFSi - not a 1.8 as someone made reference to and I have not had the car over a year and a half - that is absolute rubbish- it was still driving round shroshire then. It was left with me last easter by George a friend of mine and its owner, for me to try and sell as he simply wasnt using it (it was a 3rd vehicle for him) and having paid £16k for it from Seat in 2011 with 2.5k miles on and having then run it himself he still owed £12k on it and thought it was a waste to be sat round. I initiallly advertised it for him at £11495 to try and minimise his loss. It has not been accident damaged, it does not have noisy suspension, everything works as should and it is regularly driven by myself on a 15 mile daily commute to keep everything free and in running order. It was not last serviced 1.5 years ago as someone suggested but 6 months and approx 500 miles ago using the correct longlife oil. To help George out I bought it and settled the outstanding finance myself late last year as I believed it to be an exceptional example of a Cupra. An endless procession of dreamers and financially unviable people wanting finance has prevented the car from selling. That is the only reason. Only the local guy from here has actually even been to see it. He turned up and saw the car as it is, no prior prep, no warming up, no excuses from me, with my stuff in the boot from using it the weekend before. Everybody else has been annonymous and never made the effort to view. The car is largely unmarked aside from one or two chips and age related imperfections but certainly no scuffs or scrapes or wear to the interior - as you would/should expect. We can all sit behind keyboards and type meaningless comments and assumptions but the key to buying a car is looking at it and driving it surely. This is a genuine 11k mile Cupra with only Seat and one private owner (since 2011) to date and anybody who is interested in buying, has the means to buy and takes the time to view will find.

You can't say fairer than that!!

If I was the OP then I would be making the effort to view and test drive the vehicle it's extremely low mileage and in the right condition.

Thanks, dealers generally get a bad time of it and in some cases its rightly so and deserved but theres 2 sides to everything and seeing what people have put without even viewing the car has made me have to have my say. Thankfully at least the local guy who came on behalf of the OP has commented based on what he saw

Surely it will have two owners now, as you bought it from your mate and have been using it as a daily driver.

I dont have to register it in my name - I am a legitimate VAT registered trader, trading from premises not selling from the side of a road and it has been registered via DVLA as being with me in the trade via the yellow slip on the top right of the logbook. I dont use it for communting every single day but it is started and driven up to temp on the road every week or so at least along with all my other cars so that engine, gearbox, brakes, suspension etc get used under load and in real life conditions. As I have said to the message originator and the guy who came to view it was used all last weekend as I had stuff to move about and parts to collect including a full interior for an MR2 and I find the hatchback of the cupra pretty convenient when most of my cars are saloons, 2 door cabs or coupes, hence my stuff being in the boot when the guy turned up on spec a couple of days ago
