1) DISCONNECT BATTERY
2) Locate the front fogs live feed (+) wire from the fog light loom.
3) Locate a switch live wire (live when ignition on) eg: cig lighter
Cut the (+) wire from the loom and splice it onto the switch live wire
Now the fog lights will come on and off when you turn ignition on and off
TBH I doubt it as 1) it's on a switch 2) they not meant to be used as DRL. If you post in the Vag-com section I'm sure someone will be able to say for definite if its possible to do it on vagcom.
I've heard on some models you can do it. But wasn't sure if I could do it on mine... Is the switched live mot legal? Or is there any way I could wire it so it could be turned off.
Also I kinda have another question (i know, a lot of questions!) - I would like to have leaving home-lights on my car as it does not have this feature. How would I go about installing this? I know it is canbus so I dont want to cause any problems.
Don't worry about asking to many questions, there will be a time i'll be asking you for help.
I think your main problem is going to be the legal side as I'm sure driving with your fogs on (when not foggy) is illegal so PROBABLY an MOT fail.
Yes you can put a switch in the line so that you can turn it on and off like any other lights. Will be easier to do than the method I mentioned earlier.
MJ as I say I was unsure if it was possible to do that. The method I was suggesting was based on you not being able to do that. Could you explain how to do your method?
i have recently fitted fogs with a built in led ring on the outside. they fit in the oem side grilles and look great but still oem which is what i wanted. cost about 160 quid. i gave them to an auto electric and he wired them up to switch on when the ignition is on and switch off when the xenons fire up. check these babys out http://jafra-tech.de/en/912.html
