I picked up my car nearly a year ago and it was 18 months old at the time

The car was serviced when I got it at 7700 miles, and just now the service indicator on the dash states the car needs serviced in cira 8k miles or a few months - but I've just noticed the service book says it was due a service 2k miles ago (1 year or 10k miles from last service)

What do I go by, the book or the service indicator on the dash? If it's the book, am I out of warranty now?

There is nothing in the book to state if it's on long or short service intervals

Phone up the Seat dealer and they will tell you if its on long life. I suspect it was left at long life (that is how they left the factory) but they serviced it early. As long as they used the correct oil you will be fine. If you look at my service log it's all over the place but I know it's been serviced properly.

I was told when I was ringing round for quotes that even on longlife it should have its first full service at 19,000 or risk warranty issues on anything that would be checked there.

I've just picked up my car and it was serviced for me @ 3464 miles & 8mth old, the sticker and stamp in the book say the next service is due @ 13464/ Jan '15

The first page of the service book says it is on long life and the on board computer says 14.4k until the next service.

I'll be sticking to yearly servicing/10k.

Phoned the supplying dealer,
The car was on long life servicing and it was serviced early as I bought it, they told me to ignore the book and get it serviced when the dashboard says to do it.
This suits me perfectly as I do circa 15k miles per year

Yeah that makes sense if you are doing the miles. I don't like long life for myself as some years I only do 8k (but usually long journeys) and don't want to leave it longer than a year for an oil change.

I'm leaving mine on long life but changing the oil myself every 9k. Best of both worlds.
