i was being tailgated a couple of weeks back by an A3 on the M25. 6.30 PM, in the outside lane, 75 mph with an endless line of cars in front of me so no chance of getting ahead of the traffic...the dipped lights were very white, but not dazzling. Then he flashed me.....was like being in a searchlight beam. And he kept doing it. ******.
eventually there was a point where I could pull into lane 2 to let him pass, but he decided to use it to undertake me. Then pulled out in front of me - I think my LEDs, on flash, were just as bright as his!
And then he was off, weaving in and out from lane to lane undertaking all over the place, but I kept seeing flashes of really bright light for ages as he pissed people off for miles.

I went in my wife's AFL equipped Vauxhall in the dark for the first time the other night. Those headlights were so much better than mine. They were like the Leon's high beam when they were dipped and it was contest over when the auto high beam kicked in...

Drove mine in the dark home last night and have to say I didn't find the lights particularly disappointing.

I came from Merc bi xenons with corner enhancement which were epic so not noticing much of a difference between them and the Cupras was deffo a positive.

I wonder how many LED bulbs the leon headlight has, it looks to be under 10.
The following I read with interest from world car fans about Merc

According to the German automaker, the company will soon begin producing headlights which feature 84 LEDs. This doesn't sound terribly exciting but Mercedes points out the CLS currently has 24 LEDs and the additional LEDs will provide better illumination.

So with 24, far superior than seat, not surprised seat lights are so poor.

I think a lot of this is relative - how bright do you really need them to be?
there's a legal limit on beam length, hence the MOT test of setting, and compulsory auto-levelling function of "enhanced" lights, like LEDs, Bi-xenons. That's what they test in MOTs - not brightness, but setting. So on dipped you aren't going to see ANY further down the road, you'll just get a sense of a brighter section in front where it's lit. Main is something else.
I'm as guilty as the next man - when I went from my old Bi xenons in the merc, I wanted either xenons again, or equivalent LEDS. And I think these are...but it's got like an arms race for manufacturers.
And if they're too bright they really are going to get up peoples noses, or yes - cause an accident.

I have a handheld torch that lights up a dark road as well as my car's headlights. That's the big reason why I'm disappointed...

are there any later model light units that fit 2004 beeza's?

i would rather have newer LED full front headlight units than fitting and HID or LED kit.

so are there any straight swap lighting units that will fit?

Doubt since the Leon is the only SEAT currently fitted with LED headlights. Not heard of any ibiza with LED headlights

Just a thought, people do realise there is a setting for Motorway lights? This raises the level above 60mph (or around that)... you enable it in the options.

After a few more weeks I am actually finding them better than I thought, not mind blowing but definitely good enough and it gives a lovely colour on the road.

I've current got an 2012 Ibiza FR with halogen bulbs, but my Cupra 280 is due to arrive in a couple of months. How do these LED bulbs compare ? You guys got me nervous

We got a 2013 ibiza FR, i have done one day in leon, one in ibiza, same route, time, weather (very overcast & damp) and the ibiza is far superior for brightness, range and wider coverage.
My previous cars had projector halogen headlights (not xenon), far better than the LED's i got now, however I will ask dealer to look at them as there simply not bright enough.

I have just come from a 2013 MK5 Biza Cupra with Xenons, and the 280 is far superior on the same roads I use regular. Lights up road plenty enough for me and I don't hang about.

6000K tops (still quite bluey white), but 4300K is closest to daylight and what the manufacturers use.

ah ok, problem is m8 i have terrible night vision whilst driving and im looking for a whiter white .

recently installed led sides lights and when they are on with my main headlights the main lights look a sickly yellow in comparison and i find the beam hardly cuts any distance in the gloom.

Best headlights I've had on a car. You lot should try driving an old school 200sx down dark country lanes... that was like having a tea light in each corner on the front!
