I agree about the Sat nav, not great really.
Gave it a good test when I went to collect my wheels from Huddersfield and it kept trying to divert me here there and everywhere on the way there, although the M1 was closed due to an accident so it was kind of doing it's job.
After leaving Huddersfield on the return trip, it sent me down a country lane, pitch black but nice tarmac road so thought ok, it's a nice cut through, then the road started getting bumpier with pot holes, then farm houses, then tried to take me through a hairpin bend into a field!
At that point I decided to turn around and find another route as it was only half a mile or so.
One of the locals came out and after a quick chat, she said that loads of people end up there with satnav directions leading them there.
She mentioned that there is a way through, but only in a 4x4
There are some cheap navs in Halfords as said and I was going to get the Garmin 2508LMT which is still £99 which I think is a good price, but I managed to get a 2598LMT-D from Amazon on their Black friday deals for the same price
I have an old Garmin Nuvi 200w which still works, battery needs replacing and maps must be 4 years out of date but would still trust it to get me to my destination faster than the inbuilt nav.
As for the cubby hole, I found that the first week of owning the car as I was routing the wiring for the dash cam.
By the book, the fuse box should be behind there, but obvious now that it's on the other side behind the glove box
