You and me both, although it's just to help the adhesive stick. I only sanded the spoiler, I didn't touch the car, other than using a tar remover to degrease

My salesman confirmed the Blue one like Tommys is the white one shown in the brochure which is part of the sport styling pack and can be bought seperately
