Track Day Insurance

Hey guys,

I'm thinking of doing a track day at Knockhill so I can tear the Cupra a new one.

It's been years since I've been near a track and was concerned about insurance. I got a quote for 1 day cover at £102.

Have any of you guys tracked it with or without insurance?

I would only track a car without insurance that was worth less than a grand tbh, I wouldn't dream of even taking my mk2 round and it's only worth 6k max.

You can control your own actions but you can't predict what happens with other folk, oil spills and unforeseen mechanical issues, id say £100 to ensure that you can have worry free fun is more than worth it.

It's your pride and joy at the end of the day, the fun you'll have will be worth the £200ish quid after entry and insurance (then tyres and fuel but I'm sure that comes under "smiles per gallon"

Regardless of what the cars worth, it's like gambling if your not able to lose the amount your going to bet then don't bet at all.

Plus with the right insurance you'll be able to relax and have the most fun possible from what is essentially a car built for knock hill.

I'm also extremely jealous enjoy man

Too true, there could be neds/chavs in Honda's on track!

I still have a bit of life left in the crappy stock Bridgestones so what an excuse to wear them down to slicks before I buy some decent rubber!

Oh for sure, the track rules are as safe as they can be by only allowing overtaking on the right and on the straight so there shouldn't be any conscious issues, but plenty of folk overdo it and you never know what situation you'll face.

I wanna get to Oulton Park befor it gets to cold and wet. Any of you guys used slicks on the cupra yet ? Trying to get some buying advice.

As others have said, although I've probably done in excess of 100 track events and never been close to having an issue, I wouldn't take the Cupra on track without insurance, it's just not worth the hassle. Who have you had the best quotes from so far?

Are you going to put some decent fluids in too before you get on track?

Yes, I used you for my recent trackday, although the excess was a bit steep, the policy seemed good overall. ����

Dunlop Direzza? I would personally be a bit nervous about using slicks on something that isn't a dedicated track car, especially when you have tyres as good as the Direzzas... ��

I'm in Falkirk so knockhill is just up the road for me and although I've only got a mk2 tdi I'm so tempted it's got 205bhp so not a slouch but with 105k miles I'm a bit apprehensive lol. Although my tyres have been on for a year that sounds like a good excuse to give them a good seeing to.

My best quote was from Moris Motorsport. Adrian Flux policy was only a little more expensive but the excess is alarming!

I'm going to get an oil change but leave everything else standard. I'm probably only going to do a morning, if I get into it and do longer sessions then I'll put track spec brake fluid/pads etc.

Mainly the performance others get out of them on track days along with reviews from autobild and other tests of semi slicks. Although the PS cups are probably the daddy nowadays, they may be a better choice? People like Thilo at the Ring use the Dunlops on their Cupra 280s too with rather outstanding results...

Was just advised to get track tyres when I had my last dyno run as he said in the long run they'll pay for them selves.

Just starting this thread up again.

Just got a quote for donnington park for £195-00 have phoned around and seems about the right price.

Simple question for a modified car when quoting the car value do you quote normal retail or do you adjust for the money you have spent on it (which you will never get back when selling)
