Best place to buy new brake disk (Sub 8)

Hi All,

Just need some help. My cars brake disks are worn and require changing. I currently have the big brake kit with the brembo pads and the bigger brakes which come standard on the sub 8 pack.

Does anyone know where I can find the exact disks which come with the car? I'm looking to have the front and back changed. Also, I'm unsure on what to get for the back. I presume the back disks and pads are standard to all Leons?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance

Part numbers are here:

Sit down before you see the price:

The next month is going to be a big hit for me... Looking to replace all my disks and pads along with a full service. Thanks for the help, unless I can find it cheaper than £500 for front disks. Looks like I'll have to just stick with buying from seat.

I'm guessing for the rear pads I could just order the ones on euro car parts?

You can always opt for the Zimmermann alternative which is 15-20% cheaper. I've been using them for more than 10K km now plus one trackday (during which I stupidly forgot to cool down properly and I got a 30cm flame out the brakes) and they are great. Zero wear although I'm using a pretty aggressive Hawk pad.

I've got the brembo kit at the front. Im guessing these would fit perfectly fine? Only thing left is for me to find some good front pads now

Yeap. Perfect fit. 370x32mm.

Pads are very easy with these calipers. There are tons of options depending on your needs. ATE ceramics would be a good all around pad. For spirited driving and the occasional trackday I would suggest something like Hawk or Pagid.

ATE 200 is also a good and vmf brake fluid which you will also need.

Do you have any idea how they compare to the Ferodo DS2500 as those are the pads I currently have and they have been amazing.

Also I appreciate all the help. You and the others have been amazing! Thanks

They should be fine I guess. DS2500 are sports pads though so they don't really compare with those Pagid ones. They are double the price as well.

True. Just came across something on google. It said that brake disks should last around a minimum of 80,000 miles. My car has 25k miles on the clock and i’ve never been on a track. I don't often do spiritual driving its occasional.

when I went to get my disks changed, kwik fit mentioned that it needs changing. How has my disks worn out so quickly. Could that pads have an affect on that?

80.000 miles? Not on our cars. 25K is not much for a disk to get worn but it all has to do with the driving style and conditions. DS2500 are aggressive and can definitely eat some more disk but not so fast. Check your disk's width before replacing them. They should be more than 30.6mm.

Kwik Fit mentioned mine brakes need doing two years ago 16k miles later (a week) ago passed MOT for a second time (with no advisory) since Kwik Fit mentioned my brakes need doing...

Never, ever take what a chain like KwikFit tell you about things needing replacing seriously. Far better to buy a cheap set of micrometers for £30 and measure them yourself or take them to a good independent specialist or a local mom and pop type place. Chains like KwikFit make their money flogging easy to fit parts to customers with ZERO car knowledge.

I know its a few months old but those 'cheap' Pagid pads are not equivalent to DS2500 or Pagid's other racing pads.

As mentioned I would get a second opinion on your brake wear, especially given how expensive your discs are! 30.4mm is the minimum disc thickness for your front discs and 20mm for the rear. You can measure this with a cheap vernier caliper.

A tip when using digital callipers to measure things like brake discs that have a lip at the edge - grab a couple of metal washers, new flat ones, and zero the digital callipers with them in the jaws, then hold them against the disc in beyond the lip and measure the combination of washers and disc - doing that will stop you accidentally catching the "jaws" of the digital calliper on the lip.

Digital callipers are easier for most people to use and don't need to cost much more than £20 and have many uses around the garage and house!

Yes, good point - you want to be measuring the thickness of the disc friction surface - NOT the lip at the edge of the disc. Pick washers or maybe a coin which are thicker than the depth of the lip.

You can get digital calipers for £5! fine for measuring disc thickness, and jobs around the house.
