I ordered my new MY22 V2 last Thursday with a couple of options on it and was told it would be about December before I would get it. When I sold back my 2019 BMW 1 Series about three weeks ago, I asked about getting a 128ti or M135i, and was also told that it would be about a 4-6 month delivery period. Looks like most manufacturers are in the same boat at the moment.

My Cupra dealer did say that there were a handful V1's available for immediate delivery or they could get a hybrid with no problem, but would be in a pre-built colour and spec.

When we asked dealer about a factory order was told December if we was lucky. dealers do have a cars if you look around. Seems to be more red ones than anything else.

We got a 204 hybrid V2 in the colour we wanted in less than two weeks got an amazing deal only downside had to pay 1400 for a tow bar but was still way cheaper even after paying the extra for tow bar

Hi all, just found this forum and joined today while googling about this semi conductor shortage issue. I ordered a VZ2 in graphene grey with pano roof back in mid April. Just chased dealer as still not been given a build date. What's my chances of getting the car by end of October (when my current lease runs out)? And can I expect the dealer to help me plug the gap with another vehicle if its delayed beyond then? Cheers.

I was worried about this scenario too. However, when I rang my lease company and explained the situation, they let me take out an “informal extension” capped at six months. This way my monthlies stayed the same so nothing changed. They just asked for minimum 10 days notice when I wanted to return it. It all worked out fine and I’ve had my VZ2 just under a fortnight now. ??

Thanks but need to hand back before mot and service is due so October is a must have for me. I was thinking more in terms of dealership arranging a short term lease. Second time this has happened to me, had the same carry on 3 years ago with Alfa Romeo Stelvio, ended up cancelling order and buying the Peugeot 3008. Don't really want to compromise again this time round.

Well good luck with that my friend. I’d suggest getting very close to your supplying dealer and starting those conversations early. With current climate around supply and demand of cars, dealers my not be quite so “helpful” as in previous times. I had to MOT my 5 series, but it was only £45. Servicing is a different box of skittles though, if you’re unfortunate with the timing then yes it’s cost you can do without. Dealer delivery estimates have been very hit and miss all year, for very obvious reasons. I cancelled an Octavia vRS order due to lack of dealer / manufacturer clarity on build week, so I’d be preparing for worst case and but hoping things work out. Hope you find a workable solution. ✌?

Cheers for that, only in the car industry does the "tail wag the dog" it seems, which is ludicrous when you consider the kind of money we're all parting with! I'm surprised any of them are still in business, c'est la vie I guess. I'll submit an update next week either way.

just hat a quick chat with cupra online, car due for production this week should have a VIN by the end of next week.

My dealer just called me to say still no build date for mine yet, but they hope to have more information by the end of next week. Although tbf it has only been three weeks since ordering.

Wow! I ordered the same spec car (VZ2 310) less than two weeks after you and was beginning to get a little pessimistic. You've given me a ray of hope. Cheers, ninja_geezer!

Thanks @ninja_geezer I can't believe I missed the little chat icon at the bottom!

I have a provisional build date of 36 now, which is fine, if it happens! That would mean about October to the UK and as I need it early November, that will be perfect.
