Hi there, not sure if this is correct forum, however, wanted to see people’s experiences on this.
I have a SEAT 70 reg. I have had various software issues with the car, most recently I have 5 different errors all pop up at the same time:
Stability control error
Front assist unavailable
Tyre pressure loss indicator
Brake servo restricted
Error stop/start system
Apparently this is a software calibration error - however SEAT have fixed this and now it has reoccurred when I was driving on the motorway!

another software issue I am tackling is Error SOS contact workshop..

Just wondered if anyone else has had any of these issues on their SEATs as I am getting to a dead end with constantly taking my car to the garage!
Cheers!

What model SEAT Is it?
pretty sure a quick scan through the forum would give you a fair few that have had similar issues, notably Formentor owners. I’ve certainly experienced a couple on that list but (touch wood) I haven’t had anything go pop/crackle/boing etc since being upgraded to the latest software.
It’s still pants but it hasn’t broken since.

I’ve got SEAT Ibiza FR Sport 70 reg!
just frustrating as new cars shouldn’t be having all those software issues.
hopefully the update will boot these issues out!
Thanks for the reply.

Two of my friends have a Leon and Terracco respectively, you are not alone as they moan about them as well. I have got enough gripes with the whole touchscreen experience to fill a couple of pages but others seem to love it.
Maybe people’s expectations are different.
I’m firmly in the camp that a £40k car should work flawlessly. Given that I have had a couple of Land Rovers I should be used to the fact that they don’t and that give me the raging hump lol.
The whole system feels a bit “rushed out” to me. I dare say the programming boffins at VW are feeling pretty smug that they’ve included loads of tosh that nobody will ever use but they’ve neglected to test/fix a few basic things that are cheesing people off. Like the whole postcode and sign recognition stuff. It really should be too difficult for them sort given the resources they must have available.
If I did Facebook I’d start a “disgruntled user” page tomorrow to get the pressure on.
The basic cars are cool, it’s the detail that’s letting them down.

Wow seems to me like these software issues are affecting a lot of people! I can’t believe SEAT just bring out cars with all these issues! I contacted customer service and they didn’t want to know, my car has been in the garage probably around 10 times and it is 10 months old! When I first got the car it wouldn’t connect to the my SEAT app - took the garage 5 attempts to actually fix this! A shame as they are nice cars!

I think sometimes it's an electrical problem somewhere but the service shops like to blame the software, clear the errors, do some update or whatever ... and don't fix the actual problem. Same thing happens in modern Golf cars, too many electronic systems in those and too much cost-cutting in electronic components.

I am lucky and have no problems so far with my Ibiza, I have done low mileage though!

Yeah sounds about right!
my Ibiza only has 7,000 miles!

Sorry in advance for long reply....

Been experiencing various one off random and some recurring software associated issues with my MK4 Leon FR first edition over the last few months e.g.

- Unable to access user settings.

- ACC randomly changing speed settings while driving

- ACC sets itself to 130mph on start up.

- Car kept saying replace key battery for 4 days, and even after replacing it twice then warning stopped after two days with new battery.

- Reversing Camera Image didn't show up on the infotainment screen, left map up in area where camera should be.

- Car sat at " Loading Settings" for over 30 mins and a 25 mile drive, on stopping and restarting the car it stayed the same , Worked ok next day.

- Andriod Auto app does not recognise spoken commands after the initial Hey Google.

- get Gear selector error warnings ...

- Have received 12v error / warning bing appeared on the dashboard screen for about 10secs and then disappeared, but I didn't see full info.

- My car slowed to the speed of a car that it picked up on the inside lane of me, this is a real safety issue.

- I constantly seeing the Seat connect app / service deactivating randomly.

- Airbag warning coming on but disappears after a couple of restarts ( garage says ok no fault found )

- Loud internal beeping / warning noise that just stopped after about 20mins. There was no warning lights, car ran and drove fine. Garage said no fault found when checked.

My Seat dealer has been very helpful and apologetic about the issues being experienced, but have so far been unable to fix issues. They have tried resetting / upgrading software plus sent downloads of my car's system settings/codes etc. to Seat HQ for analysis.

The latest from the service manager today is that Seat , Skoda and VW are seemingly all well aware of multiple software related issues across all makes and models of car's ( MK4 Leon, Mk8 Golf, new Kamiq & Octavia, to name but a few ) using this latest software / technology and are seemingly working on a major software upgrade based customer issues, but they do not have a release date for this at this time. This was seemingly as part of a Seat zoom type meeting last week.

What's others hearing ?

Cheers.

Yup my SEAT Ibiza is riddled with software faults to the point where nothing working on my car - I never know what’s going to go wrong next when I get in the car! I complained as they couldn’t fix the car after multiple visits to dealerships - I am now rejecting the car & getting the 2022 model Ibiza.
SEAT have been really bad in my case very unhelpful…. However my dealership Snows SEAT were very helpful.

In parallel with the Dealers ongoing work i have contacted Seat Custom Services, provided the above info and a Case has been opened, a Case Manager has been allocated and as per their reply he is seemingly going to call me Next week.
I'll let you know whats discussed after he calls.

Yeah I’ve been through all of that! I have been back & forth with SEAT for the last 6 months - I had to open a case with SEAT Financial services, in the end I got compensation & rejecting the car. However, new car will not arrive until next year! It’s been a nightmare! Hope your case goes better than mine!!

My conversation with the Seat Case Manager allocated was basically that he / Seat apologise about the issues being experienced and that Seat and the VAG group are working on a fix of a major software upgrade but he is unable to provide an implementation date.
Because I didn't buy new or via finance i.e. I bought their demonstrator via a trade-in plus cash difference , then I need to work with the dealer or contact the Motor Ombudsman on what to do around repairs ( they've already had it in 3 or 4 times and been unable to fix and dealer says they need to wait until this Seat Software upgrade is available ), rejecting the car or alternatives. Reference the sale of goods act.
So I've just initiated communication with my dealer ( who as I mentioned have been helpful but unable to resolve ) to see what options I have as I want to give them their place rather than jump straight to an Ombudsman. .
The two major safety issues I have with the car is with the speed changing randomly and picking up car's on the inside slow lane and breaking when the ACC is switched on.

I love the car when things work but hate it when random things like this go wrong, especially the ACC as it's a safety issue.

Has anybody else been through this type of thing ( reference rejecting / repairing ) with a second hand car rather than from new with Seat Leon MK4 or any other manufacturer ?

Sorry for the delay in updating everybody, and in case it helps anybody else .

Basically after continued intermittent and various ongoing car / software / infotainment / ACC issues including last week the reversing camera not showing up on the screen and then a day later the infotainment screen not working and "Loading Settings" and twirly thing on the screen for the last 4 days all the time I was unable to use/access the radio, or volume, maps, phone or get into any settings. The only thing that worked was the AC temp adjusters.

I have after much discussion with the dealer , agreed for them to buy back my car ( above trade-in price, and actually 90% of the price I paid for it 10months ago after 13,000 miles of use ).

My only other option as discussed with the dealer was to keep the car and wait for the long awaited and unknown availability of a software update ( they said that if seat don't extend my warranty they would provide extra warranty plus my next service would be free of charge as good will gesture ).

But I have lost faith in the car / software / infotainment system, and wasn't confident that this illusive update would cure all the issues.

So I have sold the car back to the seat dealer and will now start looking for a replacement car, but it will unfortunately not be a Seat, Skoda or VW with this generation of software/infotainment system.

cheers to all.

Hi Monty

I've had similar problems with my First Edition FR the latest of which is the reversing camer stopped working, whilst they fitted a new camera, it had to be calibrated, however my Seat garage didn't have the required tool to calibrate camera, and they can't hire one until April! Despite updates my infotainment system kept freezing, now have no faith in the car. Took the issue up with the owner of the Franchise and met with the After salesmanager who mentioned the issues across the VAG group. Basically offered to buy my car back at slightly above market trade in price, or they can offer me a brand new Leon Sport FR in exchange for my car and an extra £6K, they negate their profit margin on the car. Trouble is will i still have similar problems with a new leon. Considering selling it back.

As previously I sold my Leon back to seat dealer and after nearly 30years of Seat, Skoda & VW ownership, I've jumped to a Corolla Hybrid and so far really enjoying it, not as nippy as Leon but MPG is way better on Corolla and all the infotainment and adaptive cruise control etc. all works as it should.

Hi Monty, I tried Motorway way and immeadiately had a better price for selling my car, although because of the calibration issue can't really sell it privately at mo. However, going back to dealer today to ask for better offer, otherwise like you will be looking at other makes of car. Mal

Hi Mal, yes had figures from various online buyers websites before my meeting with Seat dealers sales director , but as you said those prices would have been for fully functional motors. As it worked out, the buy back price from Seat dealer was fully acceptable to m , plus when I had no trade in it helped me negotiate a bit of discount against the Corolla price.
All the best, Gordon.

I have a seat FR 70 plate tons of software issues, sat nav not loading, crackling speakers when hands free and when audio is on. SOS comes on most days whilst on the M6. Not good. Daughter also has a Skoda 4 x4 70 plate and she has same SOS error messages.

The problems are across the whole VAG brand now mostly around the MQB Evo platform but a quick read above the models have a dose of MIB3 issues. Where MIB3 was grafted onto the existing models in 2020 you only got those... MQB Evo has additional. VW and Skoda it's all the same. The question is whether Seat / Cupra gets on top of them as quick as the other brands within VAG.

Lot to be said for not changing your car until manufacturers get their act together.
