what did you and your mk3 leon do today

I'm thinking that if you use sound deadening under the new boot floor liner, the liner won't be a very good fit.

There was a post on the other thread that it does fit, but the plastic nuts are at the end of their threads. I'm thinking I'll probably get the carpet first, and see how much wiggle room there is to play with before committing to the soundproofing - it's not as if it will be a major job to take it out at a later date to put soundproofing in

@LeylandVCDS With only the alubutyl, there is no fitment issue. If you also add foam, thats a different story. Ask me how I know

Advice: add the alubutyl under the rear seat and boot. But there is a high probability you also want to add it to the doors after you do that

Today I replaced the tailgate struts on my ST for some Stabilus ones - as the original factory ones had absolutely had it… they wouldn’t keep the boot lid open, it would slowly drop until it swung shut :/

5 minutes of work later, and it now stays exactly where it should! Not enough power to auto open with the fob, but I didn’t expect them too when they’re an exact match for factory specs. Now I don’t need to worry about wife or kids getting brained by a rogue door

Bought mine from ebay, on the estate its definitely worth it.
Makes a great difference and put some under the rear seats.

I did the boot in my ST as well, it definitely lowered the road noise from the rear, I'm doing under the seats as well soon

Definitely worth it, the bare metal in the estate with its size over the hatch, has great acoustics.
Everything is amplified especially the thuds over bumps and potholes.

Yeah I know, I considered doing the swap for Octavia spec ones (which will apparently pop the boot automatically) but wanted to keep to OEM specs as I’d seen some people reporting broken locks and twisted tailgates

Nope - it was an optional upgrade, but not powered by default

Speaking as someone with history in aftermarket audio, sound deadening is very much worth it, I'm working through the car in my spare time (which is in short supply) to do mine and I exclusively use Dodo as it's usually priced very well (plus I know a guy)

So this is a good example of the difference between sound deadening through vibration dampening material (sticky sheets) and sound proofing via sound wave absorption (sticky foam) and the benefit of either will depend on what your audio goals are.

Posted a lot of pics of the downpipe installation. Was well worth the money, even without a remap. Sounds more throaty and spools faster

I went over it, also get yourself a mini roller to go over the sheets.
