That's not regenerative braking is it ?. Never driven a car with it but it knows from the map data when to do it. Seems like that or handy hints is using that data.
yes it definitely does this, it gives you a little graphic to say to take your foot off the accelerator when it's doing it. But it's also slowing me down deliberately in normal traffic situations - and I don't know what is causing that. I think it's different to the regen/eco braking. This time there's no symbol to indicate it is doing it. It seems to work very much like adaptive cruise, modulating my speed to keep me a distance behind the car in front. It does it well, but it's also quite strange. I assume it's one of the front-sensor options but I'm not sure which.

Might be the digital road speed or what its read off traffic signs... so it's saying let's slow down and recharge the battery. I'm not familiar with what can be toggled on and off.

i'll keep looking. I think it must be one of the forward assist settings. I don't think its speed limit linked, all of this is happening well within the limit. I can't tell if it's using the brakes (i.e brake lights go on) or whether it's all through engine braking. Most of the time the revs don't raise and so I assume it's using the brakes. And half the time I do use the brakes I can feel that it's also using them.

We can throw the lane assist camera into the mix. That also prevents undertaking by imaging traffic on the side. This was an early days Formentor thing when moving past traffic on lane offs at junctions with ACC on, it would slow the car down so you were not undertaking. Didn't provide joy to some people. It could be overuled by VCDS type of coding to disable it detecting side traffic. Not too sure with SFD2 you can do that now. Any detected side movement at the wrong speed it may not like blaming you as the driver.

Digital road speeds being incorrect could also be the issue or just too much intelligence in the car these days :ROFLMAO: . If the car looses it's position on the digital map or the underlying map is not accurate that can also have a bearing. You'd have to see whether it always exhibited that behaviour on the same segment of the map / road irrespective of what was round you.

Just adding my experience to the thread, as have pretty regular red collision symbol and sound on cars turning left quite a way ahead, and weaving through parked cars on both sides of roads on side road, and the worst was full on emergency brake when half going over mini roundabout, which everyone does, and personally done many times in previous VAG cars, Golf R, Golf GTI and BMW 128Ti with no activation of collision warning from them cars.

Truly lucky nothing was behind me as definitely be rear ended as i did not have any warning, so what chance would someone behind me have!

Did anyone get anything from dealer on this?

Mine in my Ateca settled down but may be hidden hands in the dealership adjusted it down. I dont drive with brio. Wet foliage across the roads causes a beep and I do have kittens a bit when the partners driving on black ice as we leave the village on said bend with foliage. You really wouldn't want the brakes slammed on, on that.

Probably worth having the sensors recalibrated. Just because they haven't thrown a wobbler, doesn't mean they're working correctly

Have you had the wheel alignment done at all?

Only received car on 16th January and just completed 2000 miles, and its been consistent behaviour from new, but of course that does not mean the alignment is correct or there is no fault on sensors.

Do have a Cupra garage relatively local with Seat Service Shop attached, so will give them a call and see if they can look at those items and also see if get some general 'we know this happens' vibe.

As part of the 'pre-flight' adjustments I routinely turn off the options within 'Front assist' - but not the tab that disables the entire function. So the red symbol flashes up and the warning tone sounds but it doesn't do the autonomous braking bit. Makes it useable/tolerable.

You need a long check lists... I follow this channel

I'd forget to check left and right 🤣. The Garmin system it uses has a built in check list. Always check the parachute... being single engined and it can parachute down and an incapacitated pilot it will find the nearest airport and auto land.... isn't technology wounderful. Service was a bit pricey. Its the family jet the guy flies. Seats look comfy. The son up the road from here flies an F35b... wee bit noisy when he hovered it over a field opposite. The whole house vibrated. Obviously a training mission to buzz the parents.

Yes apparently all Seat and Cupra dealers have calibration equipment now for these things. In the early days, like 10 years ago they had regional centres which Vag dealerships shared, now safety calibration equipment is more wide spread. For front assist its probably pointing slightly out or too sensitive. I did muse that mine in the early days would pick up a lorry turning not on the road, well off. Saw that as a hazard.

Possibly, probably whatever the guy had a sip of coffee as it passed him by on the production lane. I've had two incidents with previous cars, Seat cars, of clip lead connections not being clipped into home. Heated wing mirror was one, it was not clipped in behind the mirror (Ateca), the other in the roof light (Altea). So things slip through. Calibration might be one.

Practically all the ADAS systems now are non adjustable and calibrated whilst driving. It's not very often the boards are required these days.

They're also very sensitive. If the vehicle detects that a sensor is misaligned then it will shut the system down and log fault codes. There's also a code stored if calibration has been carried out.

Feels like a trip to the dealership then. Perhaps my 2017 Ateca auto adjusted itself or hidden hands at the dealership did it. It doesn't play up now. It has saved front impact a couple of times. Once when I wasn't driving it. Second a roundabout in Harlow where someone on the roundabout stopped whilst I was checking the right for incoming into the roundabout. I still get the pre signal of an emergency stop with the wet foliage especially on bends where it's across the road. If you drive into a bend fast you'd get a warning since it doesn't know you are turning. Driving sportily you will get more warnings.

On my 23' Cupra Ateca I could adjust the sensitivity of 'Front Assist' Early/Medium/Late - Late worked pretty well so it waited to last possible moment before acting..

I'd have to browse my settings. I never touch anything now. Early sounds good or late 😉. I might have done that. Rings a bell. Late with the auto headlight.
