That's not regenerative braking is it ?. Never driven a car with it but it knows from the map data when to do it. Seems like that or handy hints is using that data.
yes it definitely does this, it gives you a little graphic to say to take your foot off the accelerator when it's doing it. But it's also slowing me down deliberately in normal traffic situations - and I don't know what is causing that. I think it's different to the regen/eco braking. This time there's no symbol to indicate it is doing it. It seems to work very much like adaptive cruise, modulating my speed to keep me a distance behind the car in front. It does it well, but it's also quite strange. I assume it's one of the front-sensor options but I'm not sure which.

Might be the digital road speed or what its read off traffic signs... so it's saying let's slow down and recharge the battery. I'm not familiar with what can be toggled on and off.

i'll keep looking. I think it must be one of the forward assist settings. I don't think its speed limit linked, all of this is happening well within the limit. I can't tell if it's using the brakes (i.e brake lights go on) or whether it's all through engine braking. Most of the time the revs don't raise and so I assume it's using the brakes. And half the time I do use the brakes I can feel that it's also using them.

We can throw the lane assist camera into the mix. That also prevents undertaking by imaging traffic on the side. This was an early days Formentor thing when moving past traffic on lane offs at junctions with ACC on, it would slow the car down so you were not undertaking. Didn't provide joy to some people. It could be overuled by VCDS type of coding to disable it detecting side traffic. Not too sure with SFD2 you can do that now. Any detected side movement at the wrong speed it may not like blaming you as the driver.

Digital road speeds being incorrect could also be the issue or just too much intelligence in the car these days :ROFLMAO: . If the car looses it's position on the digital map or the underlying map is not accurate that can also have a bearing. You'd have to see whether it always exhibited that behaviour on the same segment of the map / road irrespective of what was round you.
