i also have the 1.4TDI, as its the later model (2007) with the 80bhp PD engine i was under the impression it had a VNT turbo setup, can anyone clarrify, its definetly a garret unit. Also how would i go about replacing the injectors on the car for new bigger ones off another SEAT model and any estimation on cost?

Hi, Ibiza 1.4 tdi I think it might be vnt as per 1.9 tdi pd100.
You can source some pd injectors from a salvaged car with pd130 or pd150 engine which use the same injectors from someone like broadbent autos. However. someone like allards www.allardmotorcompany.co.uk would need to fit them and they probably have a set anyway.
Iam not sure then with larger injectors if the turbo has the capacity to use the injectors at there maximum, which seems a bit of a waste.
See what allard's say..

so what would i be looking at to get 130bhp+ ? i originally though about larger injectors, maybe hybrid turbo and then custom remap, ive spoken to allards but they are un-sure about the 1.4tdi as never undertaken that work on a 1.4.

thanks for the help so far.

130bhp

I think you would need front mounted intercooler, lower compression pd150 pistons*, injectors, hybrid turbo, uprated clutch. Plus all safety parts such as brakes and suspension.
A big question lies over the bottom end and balancer shaft. In the next few months I am going to visit allards.

* i think the 1.4 tdi pd75 runs 19:1 compression but not sure what the 1.9 tdi pd150 runs

Hi,
In terms of the costs the lsd is a big factor at a grand.
Allard's quote 2795 pounds for a stage 3 1.9 tdi conversion including fitting, AMC Super-Tuning ECU remapping programme, Complete high performance intercooler system, AMC VT2 special build turbocharger, clutch plate and high flow stainless steel exhaust system. I think this would not be quite so expensive for 1.4 tdi in areas of turbo and possibly exhaust - say 2000 pounds. This would leave a grand to source used larger wheels/ tyres, front brake kit, suspension/ handling package, strut/ anti roll bars.
As much as I can afford initially until I can save some more.
In terms of use I see myself using it as a runabout and occasional track day for a couple of years then going all out and turn it into a track day car/ race car when I have worked out if Iam any good at race driving.
So a strong vnt turbo would seem the way forward. Iam not sure if allard's can adapt the gt1544s with new internals (i have been advised 17 44 spec.) and thrust bearing?
i seem to have misinterpreted one of your messages in terms of multiple postings - sorry!

Cheers

It would help if someone knew of the technical specification of the 1.4 tdi pd engine.
Could anyone post a link plse.
Iam quite concerned about crank whip and bearing/ bottom end strength

Cheers

not to bothered bout BHP, would like to be looking at 120 upwards, but more intrested in huge torque figures, would like to see 280NM+ if that possible, looking into re-map as a fairly cheap option and car should still be drivable and with good MPG.

280 nm

Hi, i think 280nm/ 210 lb ft is achieveable and as you say it's the driveability that counts. A nice smooth progressive map is key to looking after transmission

Cheers

Just get a GT1749VA of a passat, make a 3-1 manifold, ARL injectors and a decent tune.. stock intercooler is the same as the PD130 so no need for upgrading that..

RUB87, what would you be looking at cost wise through and i want it to look standard, even when you look under the bonnet.

Hi, i think a custom exhaust manifold would cost too much so will go for a hybrid turbo gt15 external with 17 44 compressor

Cheers
