1.9TDI oil filter cap wrench

hi,

I am looking for the correct oil filter cap wrench I can use to replace the oil filter but unfortunately do not know whether the ones described as for the VAG use is suitable (as the my filter cap looks different to me)

Would someone be able to confirm that the Altea 1.9TDI actually needs this type of wrench

I counted the flutes and I have got definitely 12 as well as grooves which the first wrench (described as for Renault/Ford) should fit into perfectly I guess.

Am I going crazy here or does it look like I have not got the original oil filter cap ?

neither of those look like they'd fit mine too , on mine there is a large nut moulded into the top, I just use a 32mm socket on it, works a treat every time (though you need an extension on the wrench to get access, as you'll no doubt have sussed )

Yours (like mine) is a different fitting due to it being the 2.0ltr engine, and yes it's a 32mm nut on the top. I've never known which one of the 2 tools shown is correct for the 1.9 engine.

Hi, mine is a 1.9 stylance, 05 year. It has a hexagonal top you can undo with a 32mm socket, ( as said in the other posts ) Neither of the ones you mention would fit, so I don't know what has happend on yours.

Thanks a lot for the info guys.

Mine has a 32mm nut on the top as well but I thought that it would be just better/safer(for the cap of course to use the kind of wrenches in question and that this 32mm nut might be too fragile.
I guess I was overcautious in that matter so I'll go for 32mm socket then.

32mm socket is fine, dont go at it hard or will ring.
