got the TC light up tonight again on motorway
mate plugged it into vagcom and got the following message

16487 Mass Air Flow Sensor - signal too high

P0103-35-10 - intermittent

I gather that my MAF is goosed and needs replacing (2nd one in 2 months :hide: )
but normally it says signal too low????
iv searched through the vagcom section and found a few threads but no one actually got to the bottom of it, they just replaced MAF and happy days

How come signal too high is bad??
any ideas?

normally yes

although I have seen a high one before

try an ECU reset - it might have just had a spurious reading

so my maf might not actually be goosed?
the fault has now been cleared in vagcom, il do a ecu reset tomorrow and if the fault comes back il replace the maf

Cheers mate

already done it, 4th gear at 5020 rmp im seeing 167gs (no nos)

Cleared the fault twice so far in 2 weeks

I had mine looked at on VAG COM tonight and i have this code too

I also has a new MAF about two months ago, along with an ECU, a N75 and LOADS of other things

Any ideas would be much appreciated

unlikely, only way you'll know for sure how good the maf is, is if you log it

if you can beat my 163g/s...il bow to you

its more likely due to a short or a duff maf. all you can do is clear it and see if it comes back, sometimes these things happen.

unfortunatly...a maf could fail from day one...likelyhood is it wasnt even brand new when you got, regardless what the sales person told you

some people have been through multiple mafs in a matter of a month

Hhmm yeah i thought it may be a bit far fetched to be honest

I just cant believe these things, i have had two now (one last year when i first got the car and one about two months ago)

No wonder SEAT do a two year Warranty on them

Yeah well i had LOADS of :censored: from SEAT when i had the ECU problems! They ordered a new MAF as thats what i thought it was, then when i went down there, they said it wasnt the MAF but when when i went back a week later they told me they had fitted the new MAF the week before but forgotton to tell me! Why fit something when it doesnt need replacing and then not tell the Customer?

lol thats why u got the error though cos its probably not 166/167 really :p that actually the most iv ever heard on a k03, most people are chuffed to bits with 150 odd

nah if thats what its reading then it should be fine and healthy. if you try clearing it by disconnection the battery or with vagcom i dont think it'll come back. if it does then id consider trying out another maf, maybe u could borrow one or if it warrenteed just take it back

the highest you have heard? really ? pat on the back for me,

it wont be under warrenty as i got it from awesome about 2 months ago after my old one was saying signal too low, just got a referbed one

havnt tried another MAF, havnt got another to try

if i clear the fault by disconnecting the battery, surely this is just the same as clearing it in vagcom?

yeah it would be the same but i werent sure if u had vagcom or were borrowing it from someone

have u tried clearing it to see if it rappears

as for flow values, thats basically the max you should see, never heard of a k03 making more than 160s, some k03s cars iv logged havent even broken 160s

is that bad then?

i was using my mates but i bought it myself last week so iv got it aswell now (you may of read in another thread i was using my mates)

iv cleared the fault in vagcom twice last week, not come up so far this week and done logging at weekend

made a mistake lol..was in a rush changing my plugs woosh what a sweat, they certainly dont make things easy on the ibiza

if its not come up again so far then tbh dont sound like theres much of a problem, values are high so theres not alot more you can do really, other than if it reappears just clear it again, and again until the car actually has some symptoms
