17705 pressure drop check D.V!!

alright guys,
keep getting this fault 17705 pressure drop, i checked the pipes under the manifold and one of them was split very badly (the common one) so got a new one and cleared the code, same code comes back after a week when i thought id give it a cheeky plug in to vcds, so i went to my local scrappy and got another stock D.V off an audi and swapped them over but the code still comes back? does anyone know how to manually pressurise the system to detect leaks? this thing is really doing my head in now and i just want to get it sorted and get my baby boosting to her full potential. car details are 2003 leon cupra AUQ any help is greatly appreciated

My guess would be a boost leak elsewhere, check all pipes

I'm gonna tear it apart on weekend and find the cause!! Just wondered if anyone has had this befor, and if they got it sorted? Il take all boost pipes and vacuum lines off completely and inspect with a fine tooth comb. Also the Audi DV flutters/chatters? Could the diaphragm be knackered? I love the sound it makes TBH

Good luck,been chasing this code on mine for 6months.changed everything I could think of and even used my mates Leon as a doner car for parts to get rid of it but nothing? Just living with it now

i have same fault too mate, repaired one of the split vac lines on mani but still getting 17705. :-(

Hope this helps - depends if your idling creeps up when stationary - just an option.

The thread talks about the PCV valve in the breather T piece breaking which in turn breaks the pressure valve (which is under the dump valve) which causes too much boost to escape back down the breather system - pressure drop!

Best you really can do is clogging up the boost pipe before intercooler and giving the system pressure after intercooler, just to around 1,5 bar og listen for leak or spray soap solution on the joints.

I was thinking about doing a smoke test, was gonna use a dj smoke machine, just a bit clueless on where to hook it up, anyone done a smoke test before? I was thinking maybe intercooler pipe from throttle body

Done numerous leak test and it's all ok,changed all the breather system even changed it so it don't run back into the Intake.changed all the one way valves too.still no joy

Seems to be a common problem on the vag 1.8t, from what iv read on other forums there seems to be a lot of people with this problem, I'm thinking I might put my n249 res back on and see if that cures it? I love my car to bits and hate seeing her poorly :'-(

There is a software bug in some of the ECU's that will cause 1.8T's to throw 17705 codes in certain conditions i.e. cold weather.

Check these carefully ...

... and the pipes that run off these ...

Whilst under the manifold also check the small boost pipes which the N115 is connect to on the metal plate.

smoke leak test would be much easier and less time consuming

if you recon youve got no air leaks
clean and reset throttle valve as this usually cures this fault
