4 things:

Check the pressure control valve in the crank breather system (n249? If so, in line, but bypassed)
Check the MAF wasn't manufactured in 2001 (already tried a different one)
Go to seat and see if there is a software update for your ECU that will cure any intake air temp related issues- does this cost/how much?
20vt engines don't use VNT turbos

Fault code 17705 was created to test every mechanics metal, I've come across it numerous times and always found the cause which seems to be different every time.

I guess seat are likely to charge for that...?

I'm referring to the pressure control valve in the rubber t piece at the front of the engine under the manifold.

It's still worth a double check that the replacement wasn't made in 2001 too

Yeah I dare say they'll charge but how much? I couldn't say.

How many ohms mate? (Resistor?)
Was also thinkin of ripping all the pipework out... And sai

With the right resistors and blanking plates it should be more reliable, right?
My friend has done it to his stage two lc, no problems...

Pancake hose!
Right, ive seen somewhere on here about converting so you do away with the quick release on the metal turbo outlet pipe, I can't seem to find it now I want to do it tho...
It certainly is quick release, it jumps off within a day or two of driving now:( (new clip an seal fitted already)
I think I upset it by changing the seal (not all the way off, just enough to loose boost pressure, splat oil all over the back if my engine, and put it in limp mode,)
It had been leaking a-little for a while anyway.

Cheers, ill get one when I'm next near maplin:)
What about the other valve there? Is it a n112? Was hoping to 'out' the whole bracket with its associated pipework...

Cheers again lee, done mine pretty similar, ish, but what exactly did you do with the metal pipe end that you had to 'trim', did you cut into it (sort of flare it) then fold it back on itself to make a bead/barb?
Also, what width(s)/lengths were the silicon hose and pipe?

I've ordered an aly (60 I/D and 100 length joiner)
i used a spare lower intercooler hose and bit of exhaust for the time being...

In summary... Been a month or so now, and its not returned (queue jinx!)
The fix was one of two things, most likely the latter,

Replaced and SET UP the dv ( split r)

Carried out n249/n112 bypass,

It's got a little maf style problem now, but 17705 has left me in peace.

Anymore questions on this fault code, feel free to ask, as I spent a while looking at it, and know how irritating it can be.:)
Cheers guys!
