Thanks for the confirmation Andrew. And which company would that be with? :)
Think its the more expensive option, £1000+ ?

Mine and Jimbo's where originally done by JBS hence the Milltek DPF DOwnpipe

Mine has since been tinkered with by the company at Mansfield, And now is alot stronger

Bedford is good place to start as there is plenty of run-off should you overdo things and outbrake yourself into a corner. Don't know what circuit you did Jimbo, but if it was the full GT one it can be a killer on brakes as there are a couple of big heavy braking spots on there. Funny reading your costings, as when i've taken the GT3 round there I generally get through around 3 tanks of Super at about £90 a tank!! It's a big power circuit, and the worst mpg I've hit on there is 6.4mpg!!

BTW Jim, did you monitor you tyre pressures at all? This can have a dramatic effect on handling, and I recommend anyoone that's considering tracking to get themselves a GOOD motorsports pressure gauge.

For anyone else going to Bedford, be aware that they are VERY strict on noise limits, so some with open or very loud exhausts will struggle. If you're close to the limit the marshalls will let you out - you just have to spot where the noise meters are and lift a little ;)

Glad you enjoyed it though - and keep it up!!

Yeah was the full GT circuit, don't forget mines a derv and I was only out for half a day. Towards the end of the session the car was telling me I only had 40miles left in the tank (showing ave 20.1mpg), on the way home it went up to 65, this morning it was reading 85 and I'll probably get more than that.

TBH the braking areas and around the bends is where I made all my time up. I'll try and get my vid' up this eve' as it shows this off well. On the straights ,giving it full beans, I could only get past the other hot hatches. As it was pretty wet towards the end I'm guessing it kept the brake temps down a bit and I could stay out for a good 30mins+ without any fade.

I didn't check the tyre pressures but I could certainly start to feel them squirm around a bit once warmed up, do u recommend increasing or decreasing the pressure for track work?

ur right about the noise regs though, two guys (an evo and an RX7) got black flagged (I was nowhere near the limits:( )

i took me cupra to the autodrome last summer, was awsome day, baking hot too, great to give it a good thrash fear free of the rozzers, wanna go back now as few mods since.

was racing (obv ur not allowed to race, pass by concent, hmmmm) a new VW scirocco, highly modified, then down the massive long straight cloud a white smoke from his exhaust, car then binned for rest of the day, with expensive recovery back to home, sad face for him, also made me ease of a wee-bit lol!

amazing how quick you get through a tank of super too,,, :(

should arrange a SEAT day there, be good crack i rekon

The Pro-street-S coilovers are faily competent, I would advise to get an rear ARB to decrease bodyroll.

I would try it on the hard setting first. You can get good results from just a rear one.

Nice vid and some great driving. Was willing you to catch the Skyline towards the end. Bet he was thinking 'That pesky Leon!" at every corner. :D

Thats a great video, wipers dont seem that bad ;) Track looks like you can get some decent speeds up down some of the straights. Well done!

About 155 on the long back straight after the hairpin, then a gentle brake before flat through the kink.

Jim - it looks like your instructor taught you well. Nice lines through most of the curves on the video.

BTW - most tyres need air letting out as the additional work they do generates a lot of heat in them and they start to overpressurise; less likely in your case as it was quite wet on your day.

hmmm maybe 155 in your GT3, in the derv I was getting just over 120 and a qwk stab on the brakes and through the kink, went a bit slower in the wet, in the dry u can really fly through it, was amazed how much speed u can carry!

Good pics and vid! Looks like you had a fantastic time even in the damp; saw the Caterham sliding a fair bit out of the corners!

good video. i like the sound of the diesel. doesnt sound like one though.

did you ever look at the mpg ?

thanks, it really only sounds like a derv on tickover, on the move its a bit confusing but it still tops out at 4500rpm

yeah got about 20mpg overall, I put all the costings of the day earlier in the thread.
