2.0 TSI 245 DSG engine

Hey, new user here looking for any advice/opinions before I order my first Cupra.

I'm considering a VZ1 with the 2.0 TSI 245 DSG engine. My only real reservation with the car is the engine/drivetrain. There's plenty of reviews online for the 1.5 TSI 150 DSG 4Drive and also on the 2.0 TSI 310 DSG 4Drive but virtually nothing in the 245. The latest Cupra pricelist doesn't even give any detail on the engine, performance, economic etc.

So, does anybody have any experience of, or information on, the 245 engine?

This is the same engine as in Golf 8 GTI 245. That car is FWD as well, drivetrain is probably completely the same.

Look up those reviews, there should be plenty of them. All these 2.0 VAG engines are similar, only differences are some of the parts, like bigger turbo and the like.

This is the same engine as in Golf 8 GTI 245. That car is FWD as well, drivetrain is probably completely the same.

Look up those reviews, there should be plenty of them. All these 2.0 VAG engines are similar, only differences are some of the parts, like bigger turbo and the like.

Exactly this, or the Octavia vRS, there are plenty of reviews on YouTube for these cars, so should give a good indication of what you can expect. ??

I am new to the Forum and I write from Italy. Since I was also evaluating the purchase of this engine (2.0 245hp), I asked: Does it have Launch Control?

If it's in the golf GTi,it's probably on the formentor 245 also

I thought so too. But since there is no video on the requested model, I have the doubt. Looking at the shot from 0-100 it does not seem to me to be a result performed with Launch Control

The basic specs are in the latest brochure but that's about it, no reviews, nothing on YouTube, I haven't even seen so much as pictures of the VZ1 specific items, i.e. the rear diffuser with single exhaust per side and part cloth part PVC bucket seats.

As Peyton pointed out the engine is basically the same as that used in the Golf Mk8 GTI so reviews on that are helpful.

When did you order yours?

I signed the lease agreement mid-June and still haven't had any updates on progress.

It was mid May, and you really should know something by now. Can you ask the lease company for the SLI and then track through Cupra direct?

Got my SLI yesterday, haven't had chance to call Cupra yet though.

I called Cupra customer services today, it's scheduled for build week 42. Hopefully I'll have it by the end of the year.

Nice! I've ordered the same at the start of June. Have an unconfirmed build slot for next week, so hopefully, it starts to get build next week if all goes to plan. It's so strange that there is nothing on the 245 2.0tsi variant seen videos of all the other variants. I've watched a lot of Golf GTI/Skoda Octavia VRS to get a rough idea what to expect

Yeah it is kinda frustrating, it's almost like they're keeping it hidden, I got a good price I think, and perhaps they make more net profit on the other models? From the vote it seems like the least purchased car, but it reads as a decent car to me and a lot of options with a decent engine and it just looks great
