My lights are awful, easily the worst I've ever had, last couple of cars have been Passat est.
They are clearly halogen with a central projector lens which both headlight bulbs seem to share. I've never had this setup before. I'm confused as I've read on this forum that it's just xenon lights that " do the dance" on startup but I've definitely seen mine do this on a couple of occasions but not always. I don't have an adjuster switch on the dash so they are clearly self-adjusting in some way.
They aren't setup properly either and when I've tried to adjust them, it doesn't seem to have much effect. I was wondering if the adjusting mechanism is faulty in some way but during the "dance" they seem to move around all right.
It seems to me that the black tinted fronts of the light unit doesn't help either and I just can't believe in this day and age they didn't put xenons on, it's not exactly a base model!
I'm assuming my only option is to fit brighter bulbs or get a HID system.
Any insight would be much appreciated, thanks.

If you do t have the adjuster then it should be xenon lights, can you post a picture ?

Did you ever have aPassat B5.5? I think not, the Exeo is a vast improvement
no idea, the ones I had were 1.9TDI 130 PD estate sports, 53 and 05 plates I think. The halogens in those weren't the best but the only time they were poor was when a bulb had blown.
The wife is almost refusing to ride in the Exeo at night as they're so poor.

My Sport Tech ST has the best lights i've ever had on a car, including the HID upgrade i did on my Leon, I do have Bi-xenons on the Exeo. As I would imagine you would have as well it being a sport tech.

They were B5.5s then, someone must have replaced your lamps as my 61 plate Exeo has much better headlights than either of my B5.5s
I would take them out and check, I don't see any black tinting on mine, has someone been messing?

It does have the 2012 upgrade with led "L" shaped sidelights.

That's what I thought. According to something I was reading about the 2012 re-style, bixenons are an optional upgrade on all models except the sport. These aren't xenons though, too yellow and dim. I'll have to get inside to have a look but I think it's a bumper off job. need to do it anyway as the water pipe to the headlight washers is broken.
If I contact a Seat main dealer, will they be able to tell me the original equipment if I give them the chassis number?

just stick a picture up, also if halogens just changing the bulbs can make a massive difference

Yes they should as someone from a dealer on the forum here checked my reg to see if the tow-bar was factory fitted or not. I was under the impression cars only had headlight washers if they had xenons fitted somebody correct if i'm wrong.

Winter pack cars could have washer jets with standard hologen lights

Bit random I've had a few xenon cars and just had a brand new c250 amg the HID's are worse than the halogen bulbs on my seat Exeo by far il be glad when the merc goes back , my old Saab HID's which is 13 years old is better which is insane but still not as good as the exeo

Forgot to say have you had the back of the bulbs out to check the type as some with the projector lens are infact HID the halogen bulbs are normally visible as mine are and don't have a lens

No haven't had a good look yet. Was told when I bought it that they had just changed the bulbs and they needed to take off the bumper. Will have a good firtle when the weather improves.

The thing that strikes me about these lights is how crap the main beam is. You can hardly see a difference when you put them on. There's only one lens so both bulbs must shine through it.

You should have the "lens" for normal and then have a standard h7 bulb could be a h1 can't remember off the top of my head been a while since I've seen one that's used for main /full beam these do indeed need changing after a while.
