Hi everyone,

Hoping someone can help with issues that have developed on my Ateca.
2021 SEAT Ateca XPERIENCE TSI EVO

Steering wheel buttons are mostly not working:
  • Left/right navigation: unresponsive 90% of the time
  • VIEW + OK buttons: unresponsive or working sometimes
  • Up/down scroll: works fine
  • Can't navigate MFD properly
Also MFD gets stuck sometimes.

SEAT Connect completely broken:
  • Can't register/activate at all
  • "Unable to load user profile" error
  • Globe icon missing from infotainment menu
  • Privacy settings unavailable
  • Information/Assistance calls deactivated
  • SOS button still works (green light)
  • SEAT Digital Support confirmed software issue, needs TPI2066766 firmware update:
"For MOD3.1 please perform TPI2066766/* Afterwards, check the function of the mobile online services."
They will know what it means and how it should be performed.

Tried infotainment reset (10-15sec power hold) loads of times - no luck. Factory reset same issue.

Took it to an independent VW garage - no error codes found on diagnostics. Looks like a software issue?

Has anyone had this? I've tried all "standard" reset options already. Hardware issue or worth trying resets battery disconnect/pull fuse?

Cheers

Likely to be defective buttons. As for the software updates, we can perform them
Hi,

I know you can do software updates :). I looked at your website before considering the SEAT MQB Virtual Cockpit retrofit: https://eastyorkshireretrofits.co.u.../products/leon-ateca-virtual-cockpit-retrofit

The issue is I'm based in Bradford - that's a 2-hour drive to East Yorkshire Retrofits. Plus I'm not sure what's happening with this problem yet, whether it's software or mechanical.
When I took the car to a VW garage, no error codes were found on diagnostics. It actually worked fine for a few days afterwards, so it looks like an intermittent issue. I'm not sure what's causing it.
From my Google research, I understand the software on my car is 2 years old might be outdated.
Current software info from infotainment:
  • Device part number: 575035862B
  • Hardware: H57
  • Software: 0804
  • Navigation database: 20.3
  • Media Codec: 3.1.4
If I bring the car to East Yorkshire Retrofits for the SEAT MQB Virtual Cockpit retrofit + diagnosis of the steering wheel button issues, would this likely take a few days to complete?

Thanks!

Probably worth a drive to get it sorted out if the local dealer isnt up to it. Feels like you got several issues going on there. The button and stuck firmware. I guess connect services was never maintained by a previous owner and has got stranded or a dealer missed out an update they should have done. A previous owner might have fumbled the firmware updates which you aren't suppose to do yourself.

Anyhow if you got no control over the unit with a reset hold there is not a lot you can do yourself. A retrofitter is going to have a bin of parts to try out more so than a dealer... although I was given a wing mirror of a sales car for two weeks till mine came in (they broke it checking why the heated wing mirror wasnt working, not plugged in all the way at build). A dealer is unlike to start pulling apart their demo model front infotainment screens. There have been instances where people change the front screen themselves where it's physically damaged... yet buy the wrong part off Ebay. The with and without navigation gives you with and without the navigation button although they could do a few extra button presses to find it on the menu. That still doesn't resolve the other issue.

I had a few long journeys and overnight stays when I was trying to get unlimited mapcare on a mib2 high. Overnight stays before it became a DIY task. Experts can be a distance... should have driven the extra distance to Yorkshire that are upto speed 😉.
