Hi all,

I'm thinking of getting a new Seat Leon eHybrid (Xcellence, so with the larger 10" infotainment screen).

I am trying to find out, please could someone with any 2020+ Leon with the larger screen on the latest software take a photo of CarPlay running on the screen? I just want to see how large the CarPlay window is, and whether it takes up most of the screen.

The only thing I can find online is this image, where the CarPlay window is very much reduced. However, I believe there has since been a software update and I think the CarPlay window is now a lot closer to full screen. Please can someone send a photo so I can see what it looks like? Wired or wireless are both fine.

I use CarPlay a lot so it's a big factor for me.

Mine was build week 8, delivered 31st March and it’s been like this since day 1. Yours will be fine
Thanks for the speedy reply.
I’m picking up a used Leon registered in Sep 20, so will have to wait and see…. Hopefully it’s as simple as a software update ?

Hello! did you finally get the full screen size on your 2020 Seat Leon? I am taking my 2020 Leon Xcellence gasoline to the workshop in a couple of weeks, just because I want to have carplay in fullscreen. If you have more information, please tell me! Thank you

Hi,

the car has a recall on it and I have asked them to address the apple CarPlay and it not being shown in full screen.

Hopefully they can get it updated. I will let you know the result.

Hi,

What do you mean by recall? You mean you have no new info? I hope we find a solution... But sadly I am starting to think that only 2021 Leon can do full screen (I don't understand why)

The larger screen is only available on the later infotainments of software version 17xx and higher

if your infotainment is version 16xx with the smaller screen, it, unfortunately, can't be updated (at the time of writing) to 17xx

Dan, have you asked your dealer/garage atall about the first edition software being stuck on 16xx?

I mentioned it in passing when they said they had some campaigns to run and they just said the updates weren't related and brushed it off. But then again my garage is pretty shite since my car was in for 4 weeks and they only phoned me once to say it was ready to collect, and also returned it with basically no fuel ?

Not about it being stuck on 16xx, I will when it goes in for a service next month.

There is a campaign out for first edition eTSI infotainments, update from 1664 to 1672 to be done by the dealer. Mine has had the update but no full screen AA or able to update past 16xx

Hi guys, just ended up on this topic because I just tested a late 2020 Leon 4 an my local car reseller and damn, that small CarPlay screen in the middle is worse than the display inside an Ibiza…. Why…

Anyone knows if it’s still impossible to upgrade from 16XX firmware to 17XX ??

It isn’t possible to upgrade from v16xx to v17xx. The two versions have slightly different hardware.

However there is a big update due out soon so that may correct the Apple CarPlay issue amongst other things.

Thanks @Maypack ! Hope it’ll fix the small screen problem… Where did you get this information ?

Is there a way to keep an eye on the upcoming infosystem updates for each hardware version ?

My VZ2 is being rejected and I’ve been in touch with my local dealer along with Cupra UK for the last six months. My car is running v1672.

All info has come from them direct.

There is a new update V1810 on the Golf Mk8 forums and it is expected that this will be passed to Cupra vehicles shortly. There should be version for v16xx and v17/v18xx.

In the German SEAT forums there was mention of an update from 16xx to 1810 for MK8 golfs. There was no mention of when it would be available for the Leon. I haven't seen any official notification just a Facebook post from a european retrofitter.

I think this was the post I saw

Ok so I read many pages on this German link. Unfortunately form the message I read here and there it’s always the same conclusion… first editions of Seat with first model Hardware will not get updated in the future, which is so weird. It’s just software, I can’t believe the hardware is too weak to run 18XX versions.

I think I will avoid buying a first model Seat Leon because of it’s limited software support ?

I did a little CarPlay screen size image comparison in order to show the difference.
It's a deal breaker for me ?

There are several reports of Skoda's receiving the update to 1810, even first editions.
