how much is this conversion going to cost you guys? i really cant see much point in it, i've spent half as much on my 2.0 8v than my mate has on his 1.8 t and i can still beat him.

Depending on the donor car... but I think the cheapest you could do it for is about 1k (and that's using a cheap engine, and having a lot of bits already)

If you think your 115bhp Ibiza will be faster than a 210bhp 20VT you are kidding yourself.

problem is 200bhp+ on tap is better than 200bhp+ out of a bottle, how long can you have with spray with an average size bottle?

and from what iv seen with the regular bolt on mods the 2.0 8v is only really good for 20-25% extra power, anything more is just optimism or speculation. and that 25% extra power costs about £1200. just doesnt seem worth it if you can get a 1.8T lump for a grand

i have got a budget of about 5 k to try and find an engine and run it on omex management then gotta find big brakes and good suspension

I thought it would be easier to rip out the old ecu loom from the existing car and then wire in a new loom for the management think it will be easier for me in my opinion anyway, and i will have things like launch control to try and stop the wheel spin when i put a big turbo kit on it

yeah i did put it on ebay not long ago. spec is as follows :- Forge pistons, H section conrods, ARP rod bolts, Helix paddle clutch, Wizard of NOS kit (100shot with 2x 11lb bottles, vr6 driveshafts and brakes, Magnex exhaust, Piper cam and all interior parts removed to save weight.

Wizard of NOS say with 100bhp jets you get 0.9 lb of NOS to every 10 second blast.

wouldnt a 2l 8v 115bhp conversion to a 16v 150bhp be alot easier and then be on par with a more difficult 20v turbo conversion? i saw a few 20v turbos run at santa pod and to be honest i wasnt blown away, of course i cant confirm wether they were standard or chipped.

my aim is more than 150bhp i wanna try and find a 180bhp engine then run it on managment and maybe change the turbo to a bigger one at some point, so be running upwards of 200bhp
and i also want something thats not very common.

sounds like you might want to research a wee bit better..... no point getting stand alone with the more modern ECU remapping software that can run BT.

certainly would be fruitless installing standalone and getting 180bhp from a k03 based engine when an OE setup would be cheaper, more reliable & run to over 200 no effort at all.

why do you say more reliable? i don't know where i'm gonna stop with the conversion, i want to run 200+ bhp now but may want to change the turbo at some point in the future will a standard ecu cope with a bigger turbo?
adam

absolutely
i know of only a few people that bothered going for aftermarket management with bigger turbo and their cars are no quicker than those with the same turbo but the stock ecu remapped

just stick with the stock ecu, less stuff likely to go really badly wrong and save you quite a few quid!
