225 LCR Steering Wheel

thats a lot of pennies lol , i think your chances of finding 1 in a breakers are slim due to the fact im guessing most written of lcr are either burn't ot or crashed with a good chance the airbag/s have gone off , im guessing your best bet is some 1 who has replced there wheel for a aftermarket 1. but not sure if people do that with lcr's

when i checked, a 225 steering wheel was over £300
i wanted one, as my 210 is a litle shiny.
I might have found one from a car that was flood damaged.

Like Steve says, R32 wheel will fit but they're as hard to come by as a 225 one, and the same price new - although if you're struggling to get discount on a 225 one, there's a guy on uk-mkivs does discount on R32 ones.

Oh, and there was a guy from Europe that posted a picture of some wheels, and said he could get they cheap (but when a few of us pushed him, he didn't come up with the goods).
One of the ones he posted was like a 225, but didn't have the red band - perhaps a nice option on a 210, and possibly cheap if you could fit what it was off.

Yeah, the weekend could end up being very costly! Vik is going to screw when I start spending the money too!

Shouldn't do, no. I wondered if the one I'd got had come from a car where the airbag had gone off because the plate that the airbag clips to isn't quite straight.
I tweaked mine, but you could easily swap the one off your 210 wheel onto your 225.

Any tips and advice for dealing with the airbag.. how would you go about removing the airbag from the existing steering wheel to put in the new one?
Would simply disconnecting the battery make it safe? or is there more? such as disabliing it in the vag-com, pulling the fuse?
Might be worth clairfying for those considering this themselves. Im sure if it went off in your face it could do alot of damage if your in the wrong position..
