So with heat soak how much difference to heat soak (if any) would having the same sort of scoop you get on a scooby make. By no means would i do this I am just curious.

The SMIC or any intercooler for the matter acts a bit different than people would think - it quickly absorbs a given energy in form of heat end slowly releases it to the atmospheric air.

That means you need to give a huge air stream through the IC only if you keep the turbo permanently red-hot in max boost. (Which would be a bloody marvel, as the turbo shaft gives up after just a few miles this way.)

With high boost runs to accelerate to speed and then speedy runs with moderate throttle, the SMIC has enough time to fully shed the heat to the incoming air.

In practice, suddenly opening the throttle and giving full boost reads an intake air temp 4-5°C lower than before, because incoming compressed air sheds its heat to the IC's aluminum core. Only when the core is fully heated up efficiency begins to drop.
