Hi,
Did a lot of reading on SeatCupra, and found some useful information here
I finally can post images, so here is my build thread
Live in the Netherlands, so sorry for my bad English
It’s a 2001 Leon Cupra 20VT, which I bought bone stock.
My goal that time was to make around 300Bhp and give it a better look.
So thm modding begun.
Fitted A cold air intake, removed the N112 + N249, also the secondary air injection had to go.
Bought a Cupra Body, and fitted it.
Next up were some wheels.
They are interaction don’t know the type, but I liked them.
Next up I mounted a Fmic, 3’’ downpipe, milltek catback some facelift mirrors, white Cupra (R) dash (the clocks don’t know the English word
)
Also Fitted some dual projector headlights with H7 Xenon low beam, and H1 Xenon high beam.
Engine looked like this at that time:
Ordered a JBS04 for the 300BHP
When it came in it was fitting time!
Also placed Cupra R BAM injectors, and a 4 bar FPR. First time it got mapped, the car was running to lean. So fitted a 4 bar S3 fuelpump.
Made this result:
Was quite happy with the results, it was a unknown turbo by that time, so quite a relief it made 293bhp and a load of torque
In my opinion, the engine was ready, and I was able to focus on the interior exterior, suspension, brakes ect.
Someone offered a Cupra R bumper, so picked it up, and fitted.
I was also a fan of the black rims with red rim ribbon, used it on the mirrors to.
As you can see its lowered here, bought a 200 euro coilover kit just for lowering. Didn’t expect much of it, but it was quite good for the money.
Had in mind to trade it in for a better kit when I could find a good one for less money. Already fitted full powerflex front and rear. Don’t have any pics of that..
Originally the car didn’t have climatronic, it had manual AC.
So bought all the things needed for the clima, and started building:
Dash out:
Don’t know the english word, but took the manual unit out
Connected al the wires, fitted the unit, and tested:
It worked yesss
New dash in (old one was scratched)
And done
So some big events started in the Netherlands, so decided to go for a new look.
Removed all the striping.
Much better
Disaster stroke, as the clutch began to fail (made 200.000km’s with it). And my 2nd dualmass started to fail..
So ordered a spec single mass 7,2KG flywheel.
My tuner told me I could use a stock clutch, and sachs would be the best choice, so also bought a sachs clutch.
Also needed 4 new tires, so 4x Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 2 225/40R18
Ow almost forgot, redesigned the Intercooler tubing,
And fitted a bigger intercooler could get it for free, and always thought the 1st one I had was too small. (it is one from a EVO 4)
Fitting the clutch:
Removed Gearbox
New flywheel + Clutch:
Wow.. that is some awesome sh*t!
It feels much more quicker after the lighter flywheel. Much more direct.
Happy!
Then I came across a KW Variante 2 Inox Coilover kit, brand new, for half the price.
So decided to pick it up.
And fitted:
Woah! What a big difference! It is so drivable now! Didn’t expect so much of a change, but very happy I fitted the kit!
Yesterday they had a Dyno meeting at my tuner, and a guy who worked there had some brakes he wanted to sell. So I thought it would be wise to fit those
they are brembo’s almost the same fitted on a stock Cupra R 323mm disks, and braided hoses.
Picking them up next week.
Had seen a lot of positive figures that day (and some bad ones), and I hadn’t planned to go for it myself, but I couldn’t resist..
I couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw the result.
Sooo awesome
Expected around 300Bhp with the new mods. (also fitted a Walbro inline 255/Lh after 2 months because after a while the S3 pump started to lack pressure)
I use 95 octane, mixed with 7L 96+% bio-ethanol
Took me quite a while typing the whole story, hope you like it
Specs of the car:
Leon Cupra 1.8T 232.000Km’s
Evo 4 FMIC
Apexi Cold air intake
Forge Turbo intake hose
Bosch TT 380CC injectors + 4Bar FPR
JBS04 turbo
3’’ downpipe with milltek
KW Variant 2 Coilover
Full Powerflex
Walbro 255/Lh inline fuel pump
N112+N249 removal
Spec Flywheel + Sachs clutch
Must be forgotten something
But it drives awesome now!
No wheelspin in 2nd gear. tires are great!
