For the past few weeks I have been saving and slowly purchasing audio equipment to install in my car. Im not yet ready to install any thing as of yet as I am trying to do things properly.
My goal is to have 2 6.5 subs in the rear doors, amps components in the front, and a 10 inch sub in a fibre glass enclosure in the rear. the amps will be under a false floor and I'm hoping to keep the spare wheel well accessible.
I am going to be sound deadening the doors with foam, expanding foam and deadening mat material.
These are the subs I am going to use for the rear doors.
I have hit a
problem already. Assuming the 5dr is the same as the 3dr in that the speakers mount to the door card rather then the door (ridiculous..). These have to be front mounted on to an MDF ring. Except the trim on the outside ring of the speaker will not sit flush, and it has been glued. I dont really fancy cutting up the door cards to mount them to correct way either.
The only thing I can think of is to make a foam ring to fill the gaps.
I will hopefully be installing this into one of my doors next weekend when I am all the parts to deaden the door. I will be using a mates amp and head unit to test for vibration and to see if I should buy another sub for the other door, or to kill the idea and get a decent set of coaxials.
If any one else has an idea on the mounting of the subs, please feel free to chuck some ideas at me!
EDIT: Ive seen this..

Exspensive, and can probably make it my self, except I have no idea how they will sound. If they really sound terrible, Im left with a gaping hole in my doors.
