I had a 60k service on my 03 TDI Sport 130PD today. It has been ultra reliable so far but the dealer recommended the following items now need replacing through wear and tear. As I don't really have a clue about what these are and I'd appreciate a comment on the relative urgency of the work and the cost (dealer prices)

'Lower arm bushes split and debonding, antiroll bar cracked plus bushes splitting. Replace all at £353.26.'

Also the front discs and pads are 80% worn and I have been quoted £245.49 for replacements. I will get these done in the next next few months but if I go to a local garage will I still get decent parts fitted cheaper?

I don't have access to tools and trolley jack etc so I can't do any of this myself unfortunately.

Cheers

Did you get the timing belt changed as well?

I have my 60k service next month and have been quoted £400 in total for the whole thing including timing belt.

Is it normal for 'Lower arm bushes split and debonding, antiroll bar cracked plus bushes splitting' to occur by 60k miles?

we have had quite few ibiza with lower arm bushes go before 60 k so yours did quite well tbh but bushes all depend how its used or abused to the length of time they last

My 130 Sport was in for it's belt change at Seat.Whilst in,they done a free safety check(60k).
They recommended the same repairs as yourself, for the bushes and antiroll bar.Didn't quote a price.Anyway, they ticked the red box 'requires urgent attention'.
I thought i'd take my chances and leave it till it's MOT (6 months later).Went to a VAG specialists for it.It passed, first time, without needing any of the parts replaced.Didn't even get an advisory.
I know some people will say better safe than sorry and i should have got the work done. But i trust an MOT,more than a 'free' safety check'.
As for your brake work,i'd get a second opinion then shop around.

It does seem that these console bushes and ARB stuff need to be seriously broken before they cause an MOT advisory or failure. As said already, common failures console bushes have lasted "well". Doing the ARB and rubbers and console or TCA rear bushes (fit Cupra 6LL ones and not any 6Q0 ones) at the same time does save re-alignment money/time - so it does make sense. I can't comment on disc/pad prices as I've always done my own. Also do take the timing belt advise if its still the original one that is fitted. Its a lot of money at one time, but the brakes are just expected wear and tear so not repair as such.

The TCA bush wear will cause uneven front tyre wear - and fitting the Cupra "6LL" version of bush will tranform the feel and sharpen up the turn-in - remember, DO NOT BE FOBBED OFF WITH UPGRADED "6Q0" BUSHES - its "6LL" ones for a Cupra that you want/need!

I will be having my 60k service done when I get paid in a few days... wonder if the stealer will pull the same trick?

Thanks for all the replies. I'll probably get the brakes done next month but I'll hold off the other stuff for a while. It does sound like these are flagged up routinely at 60k.
