61 plate FR+ Satnav Q

Hi all,

I have a 61 plate Leon FR+ with media system 2.2 - I have noted that there are ommissions from the maps (roads that have been built in the last year that are not on the maps) and was looking to update the maps to a newer version if possible and if a newer version exists!

Can anyone advise me on the procedure for obtaining the map files, the latest version codes etc?

Loving the car - had it about ten days so far and it rocks! Had a 55 plate 140bhp Sport before this and this one knocks it out the park - cheaper tax, cheaper insurance, better mpg and 30BHP more - it just doesnt add up but i am not complaining!

Ah, well, I think I have found the answer myself.

In short, you cant do this without buying a pre-loaded-map SD card from SEAT for ~199 for the RNS 315

Getting confused now, mine is an FR+ and has 2.1, it's registered April 12, I thought it was just the splash screen that was wrong but it actually is 2.1, how can this be and can you upgrade?? Sorry for hijacking

No probs mate. I am guessing that your car was actually manufactured early 2011 and not registered till much later - there was a spate of early (and later) 2011 FR+ cars which were fitted with 2.1 instead of the advertised 2.2 system. Whole can of worms and not an easy upgrade it seems - SEAT have been very wriggly about it.

I have 2.2 luckily for me but have dug around to make sure I have the latest map packs etc and came across this thread which may shed some light for you:

When I order my Leon in August 2011 for delivery in Nov 2011 I had a bit of a fright when I read about the shortages of the 2.2 system at that time and that the Leon’s where being fitted with the 2.1 system in a bit of a “hope no one will notice” way.

The problem with shortages was sorted by September 11 and my car does have the 2.2 system so I was very surprised to see your comment here.

Don’t suppose a dealer did a swap to get a previous buyer of his back, no they would not do that,....would they.

Cheers for the reply's guys. I was hoping that my question could be answered by SEAT CS who were quite surprised it was running 2.1 when it was registered in April 12, they have opened a file for me anyway.
I did have a thought about them swapping it out as it was an ex demo model, can't see them doing that though......... Hmmmmm
