Afternoon everyone hope we are well
So my cupra 300 ST seven speed DSG is coming up to 40k miles on clock, so I went to my local seat and asked how much it would be to change oil, the tech guy said no need to change it as the service interval is 80k I was like ok wasn't sure what to believe but went away and went to a VAG specialist who my friend uses he plugged into my car and said you got newer gearbox so it's good for 80k before oil change
Is this right am just very confused with hearing people saying every 4 years or 40k miles?
Thanks

There is a difference in what VAG thinks is the right thing, and what the world (based on real-life experience) thinks...
For the DSG gearbox(and all other boxes for that matter) oil needs to be changed regularly to keep everything best lubricated. And every oil degrades over time, especially when putting more power(torque) to it then designed for.
So for your DQ381 gearbox, the official interval may be 80k, but most do it in between 40 and 60K km, just to be on the safe side.. A gearbox oil change will cost you anywhere in between 200-300, a new gearbox will be over 20x that.
