i think this has been covered before...

in the rears it should fit ok (dont quote me on that)

but from what i remember the fronts will suffer a lot from scrubbing on the arch liner.

I asked about this a while ago - front arches need work to cover the extra width, more than just rolled. Search my previous posts for more info

I think the best that I will be able to do is 9s on the bacn and 7s on the front.

Do I need a stretch tyres over the wheel to fit 9s?

Kind regards,

Alex

why are you so keep to get 9" wide wheels ? to be honest there is no point on our cars with regard to all the modding needed. why dont you just settle for some 8" wide ? you can get some nice 16" x 8" wheels

you cant go wider than a 205 40 17 on the back without going down a profile. 215 40 17s hit the sideskirt

yes of course, because the 215 with profile of 40 means that your side wall is going to be pretty large. one way you could get around that is get rubber band tyres.

did not realise you could not go wider that 215's on the rear though thats supprising.

I'm also intrigued as to exactly what this guy had to do to his MK3 to get these B1's to fit in 9J on the front:

If anyone knows more about this car please let me know.

t18con answered your question but your obviously arent too clued up on tyre sizes.....

basically if you have a 17" wheel, its not just the height of the wheel its also how wide the wheel is in regarding to the side wall.
let me explain......

if i have a 16" wheel that is 195mm wide (6.5")

then if the side wall of the tyre says 40... that 40 means that 40% of the tyre is held up by the side wall.

if you have a 17" wheel that is 205 wide

then again if the side wall states 40.. 40% of the tyre wall is held up via the side wall..

the size of a 40 on a 16" wheel and a 40 on a 12" wheel will be compleatly different.

basically to cut this short, unless you want to modify your side skirts to get 9" wide wheels to fit then go for it, but 9" wide wheels TBH is stupid....

the rear wheels on a 240BHP honda S2000 (rear wheel drive) are not as wide as what your planning to put on.
