A naive question about induction kits

I know there may be tons of threads and posts about the subject, but I have a quick question:

Except, maybe, the Forge Twintake, all aftermarket induction kits for Leon seem to breathe from inside the engine bay, under the bonnet, and not directly from the front grille. I see that there is always some heat sealing, but doesn't this finish by feeding the engine with air which is hotter compared to the air inhaled by the original air box?

I get the impression that the majority of people who fit induction kits also fit some sort of cold air feed from the front grille?

open cone filters work well as long as you have a decent cold air feed to them,

they are prone to suffering from heat soak more so than what a enclosed filter would etc

Then, usually the whole thing ends up as a custom installation with additional pipework and not a standard one?

Why is the Twintake different? It breathes inside the engine bay the same as the others?

If you look at the design of some of the better ones, the air is fed to the cone by an intake box, and if you are smart, you will have a secondary feed also ;)

By looking at some photos with the Forge Twintake installed on Cupras, I've got the impression that the main (straight) entrance is fed with air directly from the front grille. I would say it looks as if it is connected to the original intake box. Perhaps the photos were misleading or I am a little bit ignorant...

...As to the existence of an intake box for some open cone induction kits, I saw an EvoMS installed on photos somewhere in this forum and that indeed gave me the impression that there was an intake box behind the front grille.

The front facing part of the twintake does use the original grill aperture for its air feed with a (slightly larger than stock) metal adapter. Some folks have taken a low cold air feed to the side mount filter, btu currently I have mine standard i.e. gets its air from the engine bay under the top of the wing.

Well, that exactly was my impression from the photos I saw. As to the side mount filter, there seems to be a way to feed it with air coming in from the fog light grille, but this seems to me impossible with the new Cupra R, as the fog light grille is no longer permeabe... :(

What's your experience with Twintake by the way?

Sorry to hijack this... I've fitted a neuspeed p flo today on my fr, and I have to say I was expecting more noises! I get the sucking noise, defo understand why people on here liken it to Darth Vader in the glove box! and the whoosh tssss! But I don't get the bit where it sounds like a pigeon, i.e the wastegate chatter?! Is this normal or is something else required for the pigeon sound effects?

Slightly off topic, but it saved me starting another induction kit thread!

Cheers

I like it! Took a little while to get used to the extra noises, but since I have upgraded the exhaust etc. so it is Stage2+ the sucking noises from the side vent are less obvious than before (better through-flow?) however they are still there and can be enjoyed.

I haven't logged the air flow with VCDS yet although I keep meaning to. I realise the total flow will probably be a little lower than Evoms and the like, but I like the look in the engine bay and I have good power/torque figures so I am happy :D
