ABS light

anyone had a issue with it comming on?? i googled it and seen its a ecu fault with seats but wanted know if anyone had the problem and how it was sorted???

off to garage latter just wanted your guys advice too!

Mine was on when i brought my car he told me it was a abs sensor which it was.... people on here said to give it a blast with a jet spray i tryd that and it didnt work i also took it off and tryd to clean it but again it didnt work so i had a new one put on for about 50 quid i think it was.... id get it on the diognostics to make sure tho.

The brakes will work, but eh ABS will not or be intermittent.

I've got intermittent "ABS FAULT" on the head-up display, and ABS warning light on solid on the dash of the peugeot at the mo.

They said it was probably getting upset coz my rear discs were thin and the pads f~cked.

So, on went new discs and pads, and hey presto - still got intermittent warning light

Trip to the diagnostics at main dealer to be ripped off is the only way for me

try your local decent backstreet - i know my own brothers place has a simple diag kit but still reads codes no problems

as for the ibiza - most common is not only sensors dirty or fecked but if a non standard exhaust is on there check the wiring for the rear passenger side

they have a habit of running close to the pipe and melting

you can disconnect it from under the rear seat and pull it through to check it all easy enough - and then route it safer

How do you remove the abs sensor on the rear, i undid the bolt that holds it on but it wont budge And im afraid of breaking it (sorry for hijacking this thread)

Had to replace front and rear drivers side sensors within a few months of each other on my 8v. Rear one is only available from Seat so was a bit more expensive. Had a few incidents where the ABS had switched itself off during a journey and hadn't noticed the light until I was skidding towards a junction or roundabout

As mentioned above the brakes will still work but the ABS won't when the light comes on.

Take it to a backstreet garage with a diognostics machine they should be able to tell you stright away.... more than likly a sensor tho...

Hi, I have the same problem. it was fine until changed all discs and broke an abs sensor on passenger side rear. Replaced that, it was about 80 quid! Disconnected battery for about an hour but the warning light is still on ..... any ideas what it could be?

i had my sensor done and it fixed the issue! £60 thought it was a bargin!

nick i would get a diognostics run on it should bring up the problem right away might be a ECU issue???

just bought my sensor today, feels like its going to be a pig of a job, any ideas on the best way to remove it? it the rear one by the way. £43 pounds it cost plus the lambda sensor which was 64 pounds and I still have to pay for the MOT

i think its under the rea seat or in the boot didnt pay to much attention to when they was doin it

remove it from the stub axle (undo the allen key & pull / twist it out)

WD40 makes it a bit easier. remember - you can f*ck it up to get it out since you're replacing it.

unclip the wires until it disappears inside the body shell

working inside the car lift the rear seat squab & 'see' the only wires that go out to the outside world, disconnect & push through.

poke the new sensor's connector through from the outside, clip in & lube up the sensor when you locate it

lambda sensor is even easier. - just unclip & unscrew.

remember to fit the new sensor before clipping it in or it'll all be twisted up!

Do you have to remove the rear hub to do this? or does it pull out from the back of the stub axle cover?
